thanks for the info, i'm a bit new at this, my friend has just bought a 2 litre v6 auto and the 4wd lever keeps jumping back out of gear while attempting to hold it in, and in the dirt with the brakes lightly on does'nt seem to transmit power to the front wheels? oh,it's got those horrible auto hubs too.
i'm used to simple sierra's. thanks

might be worth pulling the lever out and seeing if the selector is bent mine did the same thing after a log pushed my transfer case right up. But have read of it happening when people leant on them

from memory a wise old suzuki mechanic once told me there was an issue with a very select few t/cases that had thier synchro rings installed ass about which would cause your issue.

Synchro rings? In a transfer case? Why?

you know what i mean (engaging collar). they are different thickness front to back, if installed the wrong way won't engoge properly.

No "synchro" rings in transfer cases , only selector hubs.

i would be betting on worn engagement teeth on 4 low gear and selector hub outer ring
