just crawled out from under another stray sierra.

the owner was complaining that it wasn't handling as well as he remembered..

no wonder 8O

WOW - thats impressive! would have been a catastrophic failure if that let go at highway speed!

my shackles are plated so wont be rusting out in a hurry =P

The spring's don't look much better. Thay look to be rusted together.. 8)

I have snapped a stock shackle before, simillar to that but at the spring eye end.

did it nearly kill you or did it hold together like this one?

I don't think you'd notice? Just some loose steering? Probably get the usual Sierra death wobbles. But even if you took the shackles off completely, you could probably still drive down the road without a problem. It's not like the diff is going to fold itself backwards under the car.

( yeah yeah i know it'd be unsafe, but just theorising )

after i rolled my sierra pulling out of a driveway i gave it a good once over (and change the body) and found i had this problem :oops:
