Post subject:  LJ dizzy swap. Help needed

hey guys,

I have pretty much got everything swapped over onto my 1L muruti engine to put it in my LJ80. I'am slightly confussed when it comes to distributors. I installed the LJ dizzy housing and fuel pump on the 1L but i'am unsure of which distributor to use.

The original 1L dizzy has a vaccum line from the top of it to the carb, where as the original LJ dizzy has vaccum lines to the gear box and firewall. The LJ dizzy also has capassitors as opposed to the 1L just having 2 wires coming off it.

My question is, which dizzy should i use? Also, if i use the 1L dizzy which wires connect to the 2 wires which come of it?

Also, does anyone know where the hose in the last picture goes?

Any help would be great. Thanks.

they are not vacuum lines that go to the firewall and gearbox. They are from the heater and they blow hot air into the dizzy and then onto the clutch.

Another of suzukis excellent ideas that they forgot about in the sierra........ and don't get me started on the vitarda.....

anyway back to the dizzy
can you open the top on the 1 litre one??? You can fit a 1.3 dizzy in there too and get electronic ignition.

Unsure of this exactly but I am sure others can aswer the q for you on this

Looks likes the top pictured one is already electronic ignition to me. Look like the 1.3 dizzy I'm using in mine.

If it is, use it, lower maintenance then the F8 points ignition :)
the two wires go to the coil. One to the positive, and one to the negative. Problem is I cannot remember which one is which on the dizzy :?
To keep the blower hoses, just use the original F8 dizzy cap on the electronic dizzy, they are 100% interchangeable.

RE that vacuum line on your carby, Mine goes no-where :? . Have often wondered myself. My carb is a bit different to yours anyway :?

edit: make sure you use the coil that goes with the dizzy, the electronic ignition uses a different coil to the points ignition from memory. Also no condensers or Ballast resistor are to be used with the electronic ignition.
