this is something ive never thought of before, but my car used to make this noise quite frequently, a little pop from the exhaust at idle. doesnt do it anymore, and now i think about it, it stopped at about the time i had the tappets adjusted... so as everyone else says, id start there.

Presumably using those clearances the engine was stone cold and hadn't been started for a while when you did it?

thats it was cold it doesn't miss under load or while driving just at idle i might do it again with the engine warm and use the tolerances for that
