Can the an F5A from an Alto/Mightyboy be put into an LJ81?

Why would I want to that? Well I've found one for ridiculously cheap and it has to be better than nothing. Nothing is what I have now.

Also, will the F8B from the 800 hatch fit?

By fit I mean bolt up to the gearbox and clear the diff, the rest doesn't really matter, I'm happy to fab stuff, as long as nothing irreversible has to be done to the car I'm happy.

I have a very stuffed F8A in a thousand peices so if parts need to be swapped (eg flywheel) that's fine. I wont be trying to register it with this engine, just need something to move the thing around with and have some fun. :D

Thanks

Hayden

That always makes me cringe!

If you can't do an F8a, get an F10a out of a Sierra or Maruti. Its a stupidly easy conversion, actually improves the car slightly, and should be much easier to come by than a mighty boy motor (I know you said you already found one, but 1L's are easy to find!).

If your going to do a proper engine conversion make it worth your while. The F5a MB motor sounds pretty horrible!

Did you run it in a 4wd?
I just find it hard to believe it would be even as good as an F8a in an LJ80...

yeah it seems like a bit of a downgrade. There has to be some F10A's around, just check the paper every week.

Which F5A? If it is a Might Boy or Hatch version, it would be a backward step. If it is a F5A Turbo from a JDM JA11 Jimny (Sierra) or a F6A Turbo from a JA71 or Cappucino, it would be a good idea.

F8B from a Hatch, not so good, but if it is a F8B block with the head and EFi from a F5A-T or F6A-T (which has been done to some Aust Cappucino's), then it would be a ripper idea.

The F5A Turbo has about the same power, but less torque, than an F10A, while the F6A Turbo has about the same power, but less torque, than a G13A. I would imagine the F8B Turbo would be about G16A power figures with the torque of an F10A perhaps??

I know it would be a huge downgrade, my main concern is whether it would actually work. I need the LJ to be mobile.?? I have been looking for an F10A, I've had a wanted ad up on here for months, been looking in the quokka every week, asked a few people who I thought would have them ect, no luck. ?? The F8B sounds pretty good to me, about the same power.??If I could find a gearbox I'd be putting the LJ engine in it.??Thanks for your help??Hayden
