I'm a mechanic so i do know the correct procedure but i just cant work it out??? |

well thats the thing... not very. a good push does it. but i have been putting it in with lock tight and also have tried 515... still no good. the cam pulley seems to be worn where the seal pops out and runs on it... that would tell me why it can come out so far but doesnt explain why its moving in the first place |

hows the keyway on the crank , ive seen the keyways flog out and the sprocket rocks back and forth and wears , then the sprocket rubs on the seal and causes the seal to wear the oil pump housing where the seal goes in .. |

the woodruff key on the crank itself it tight as. but i did notice that the cam belt pulley was a lil loose on the crank. i can pull it on and off by hand and can wriggle it just a bit back and forth. |

the seal itself , should be a fairly tight tap in fit in the housing , if it isnt , you either dont have the correct seal , or the housing is worn , i know you are a mechanic , but how are you checking the pcv ? |

well i pulled it out and i can blow through the pcv without even trying from the end that goes into the rocker cover, but from the manifold side i cant blow through at all. in regards to the seal im sure its the right one... i keep thinking it should be a tight fit, but not having touched a g13 befor this one, i just dont know any better. |

pull it out of the rocker cover and leave it attached to the hose to manifold , start the car and put your finger on the pcv , does it pull vacuum ? |

i had to have the front crank seal done on mine the other week (i got an m13a tho) and my mechanic said the seal he put in was a lot diff to the old one it was metal and rubber not completely rubber. maybe check if you can get another type of seal for it. are you using genuine of am? |

did you ever find out was causing the seal to flog out? i had mine done again after my last post (just before xmas last year) and it just noticed this morning that its started leaking again if i wasn't trying to save for my holiday i would seriously consider making a big block jimny |

Had to do my Mrs's Jimny Front main Twice, 1st time just replaced it hoping it would sought it out. 2 weeks later, same deal was suggested to me to wack a speedy sleeve on there, hasn't leaked since. it was leaking because the Crank was worn where the FMS sits on it. just provided a decent surface for the seal to sit on. haven't had anymore trouble's myself. hope this helps |

Sound's like that may be the go.. & if the crank's not worn, a new cam belt pulley (off the crank) |

when we had the g13 in our, over 3 yrs we did 3 seals, it may be a common problem, have just done our first on the g16 so see how it goes hopefully its not as common and on the g13 |

Only use genuine seals. We use to use non gen seals but had about a 90% failure rate so its genuine all the way now days and no problems anymore. |
