| Post subject: | Drivers tyre scrub when ARB bar fitted? |
Hi, Can somebody please tell me why the drivers side tyre scrubs now when I hit bumps since I got the ARB bar fitted please ? Myself (and others) have looked at both sides of the car and we can't see any differences. I only have slightly bigger tyres fitted and also just the OME spring/shock (40mm lift) and a 15mm spacer. I've seen a couple of threads from a while back where people talk about chopping the ARB bar ??? Seriously ? If this fixes the issue, would anybody have a pic of exactly where they cut it please ? Cheers, Guy |

The right tyre only scrubs when I hit a good bump with the tyres turned to the right. My left tyre won't scrub no matter how big the bump is and if I've got it turned left or right. The wheels are perfectly aligned. There looks to be a fraction less space for the right tyre when looking side on compared to the left... I'll take a couple of photos soon ant put them up. Cheers |

It will onlt touch on one side because the front of a jimny has a panhard rod, which locates the axle left to right. As you have a small suspension lift, the axle will be getting pulled towards the RHS of the car a little creating different clearances on the left and right had side of the car. It's why people fit adjaustable pahrad rods - to centre the axle under the car once it has been lifted. |

I'll check the rear spring... Thanks everyone. (The spacers were only put on the front of the vehicle to counteract the weight of the front bar.) |

I had the same problem... Longer springs up the front did the trick. |

check the rear springs, get under there and have a look, they have labels, A & B, one is longer then the other and goes on the drivers side. ya also gotta take into account the weight of the driver, its always over the front right tyre, i will be getting some spacers soon to stop this, if not will be cutting the ARB bar, there is a lip on the inside, taking that off should do the trick. |

Just got back to this...finally The car doesn't seem to lean. I got under the car to see the labels, but they are covered in dirt and I couldn't get my fingers in the springs to wipe them clean (the labels were toward the inside of the spring) I'll wait until i wash everything underneath...I I get a mate with skinnier fingers to have a look. I might get an adjustable panhard rod anyway and see if that helps. Thanks all. Guy ps. don't lie under car just after you have just drunk 750 mls of IceBreak...trust me...it comes back up pretty quickly. |
