I thought that this might be a good thread to start.

Mainly because im wanting to know my wheel offset. But it has an easy name to search for future reference and im probably not the only person who doesn't know.

So...can anyone tell me how you go about finding the offset of a rim?

to follow that up, the most common measurement is centreline, hence you see most rims measuring dia X width -/+XXmm: eg: 15x7 -38

So your saying it should measure something like 15x8 -10 or something.

Okay ill see how i go.

Oh and by the way...anyone want a 15x 9 wheel. Somehow it made its way into my 4 15x8's. So now i need to lose it and find a wheel with my offset.

Are you sure! For wheel width, are you measureing inside the lip to lip(bead edges), or from the outer rim edges..

I just roughly measured the width of the whole rim. But it does say on the side ROH 15x9 or something faded like that and sits a good half inch higher/wider than my other ones.

Okay, i just measured my wheels.

15x8 with a -10mm offset.

The 4th wheel, width when measured from edge to edge (width) measures at an even 9inches. It has a -5mm offset.

So, anyone got a spare 15x8 sunny with -10 offset???

Okay. So i put these rims i have been enquiring about on the front end of the Jimny to make sure they fit (15x8). They do....

...but the wierd thing is that on the drivers side there is a smaller gap at the rear of the tyre compared to the front, and on the passenger there is a smaller gap at the front.

I took them for a spin and i had scrubbing in the afformentioned regions; rear of drivers and front of passengers.

Anyone ever seen this? Or is my car retarded like the owner. I really dont want to go to a smaller sized wheel, 235's are schmicko.

perhaps the body is a little twisted? or are your springs in back to front? (ie: swap drivers and passengers).

is -25 too much offset for a sierra running 15x8 rims? or should -10 be a more realistic choice (i will be extending my flares) and am looking to run some 30x9.5 tires

wider the better really... just make sure your wheel bearings are lubed and adjusted (front).

meh... i reckon mine steers better now with -38 than it did with -15... i think because the wheel rolls more to turn its making the steering faster because its easier to move.

so i might as well just get standard rims and flip them?

standard ar 15x5.5 - not the best to run a larger tyre on... 15x7 will cover you up to 10.5" wide... and you can get BFG KM2 in 33x10.5r15 now, so a 15x7 will do you up to at least that (unless you go 34x9.5 swampers).
