hi all,

my suzuki is a 1994 SWB, when i put my foot down it chokes, and i dont mean full pedal just any acceleration, has been going on for a while and as i put acceleration into it it misses and skips a beat, would this be fuel related?? any ideas??

Does it only miss when you accelerate? If you gently squeeze the pedal down does it still do it? Or only when you push it hard?
Or does it just do it all the time regardless of accelerator?

mine also does this in first and second and my idle is all over the shop.

also my tacho is retarded and jumps around

For the above post - Check your ignition system. The tacho is triggered by the negative side of the coil. Check the coil and system over. If you experiencing missfire problems both the miss and the tacho will be related. If you can find a coil to swap in a test i would start there.

To the OP, i would guess your problem is also ignition related. What condition are your plugs? Start with a thorough check over of the ignition system, check your plug condition, spark gap etc. Check your lead resistance, a rough number is 14-16Kohm per metre of lead length. Check your distributor cap for crack and corrosion on the terminals. Check your rotor for condition, if anything looks shit just replace it, they are worth stuff all and even if ther are not the problem its still worth making sure everything is in good condition. Next check the coil, the primary circuit is between the two small terminals on the top, positive and negative - factory specs are 1.35 - 1.65 Ohms. Then check the secondary circuit is between the positive terminal and the lead terminal and should be 11.0 - 14.5 kOhms. This is for a SWB 1.3L sierra, but a vitara system is nearly the same (Carby 8V anyway).

Change the leads when i bought my sierra from sydney and drove it back to melb itw as doing the same thing, i changed the leads and perfect

:wink:

Now my idle is all over the place and shit, i keep having to adjust the idle on the carby, and when stoping at lights and putting the clutch in the bloody thing keeps stalling on me lol

Hahaha wouldnt be the first time i have been on holidays and helped a forum member out :lol:

IN2DEP - yours sounds like a blockage in the carby, probably the idle jets. You shouldn't have to adjust the idle setting on the carby unless you make changes to the carby/motor. Give your carby a quick overhaul and check your ignition system if its still doing it.
