G'day

I know that tacho in sierra is driven from dizzy. Is it possible that someone's done something wrong when putting g16a in my sierra so now tacho reads less RPM than it should. Is it possible that tacho by itself can show less? like a blown resistor or something. i have no idea about that topic, but it seams to me that the tacho reads less rpm than there is in reality. someone else drove my car today and he said same thing. any ideas?
cheers

totally possible, coniciding with an engine swap is pretty unlikely though

do you show less revs at a given speed than before?

Is it EFi or carby? Sounds like the wrong wire has been tapped into

i bought my 91' sierra with g16a carby motor already in, also vitara manual gearbox, standard 3.7 difs, i added only 4.9 t-case gears, 31' (now closer to 30') the difference in gear ratio in sierra and vitara gearbox if any is rather unnoticeable. however at 100km'h in 5th gears tacho shows around 2800RPM which seams unlikely. engine doesn't seam to rev high, however below 3k at 100km is a bit unlikely. usually when driving revs range is between 1500-3000RPM, rarely 3500. that's why i think tacho might be out. if that's the case what should i check?
cheers

Check your speed against a GPS, don't rely upon the speedo only, both my suzis are way out.
