can you weld??can you fir up new steering arms etc?? are you spring over now or still spua?
With the lux diffs and a bodylift it will be sorta tall due to spoa. But if you are stressing over $329 for a centre maybe lux diffs aint a good option.Centres will be dearer if anything ever happened to them,You will be looking at $650 to $800 for steering solution etc bigger tyres bla bla plus your in QLD so it probably wont happen

sspring over or spoa as it is referred to is when the spring sits on top of the diff housing.
sierras are spring under (spua), spring sits on bittom side of spring housing. and this is where the problem is. you cant get it engineered in qld.

No bloke..... It won't be legal. And fitting under the guards is irrelevant. You are not allowed to modify the track width of the vehicle more than a pre-determined amount (like 15mm or something)
I'll see if I can find the specs.
SPOA is spring over.

hilux diffs have the spring perches on top of the diff which the springs sit on
SPOA= spring over axel. sierra diffs have the perches under the diff wich makes the spua= spring under axel
u cant get spoa engineered in qld on a zook

Can I ask why you want them? With upgrades to the sierra diffs you can run 33's reliably.

Firstly mate there is a lot more to it that you think, spoa means spring over axle, a Suzuki has the springs under the axle and a hilux has the springs over the axle. This causes a few problems in itself one of which is the steering which cannot be made to work unless you do modifications that are illegal. Next thing is that in a suzuki the diffs are off centre but in a hilux the front is off centre and the back is in the centre so your tailshaft runs at a crazy angle that causes vibration unless you use a hilux in the front and a bundera in the back but then the bundera is not leaf springs so you have to cut mounts off and make new ones (if you can find a bundera diff). Then the tail shafts have to modified to mate up to the toyota diffs which can cost a bit of money unless you have connections.
No it will not be legal just because they fit under the guards, you do realise that a hilux diff is only 50mm wider each side, a suzuki with F100 offset rims is just as wide as a hilux with standard rims.

Um yeah.... but have you tried to buy a standard ratio c&p for a sierra centre? you can't even get them new anywhere. I exhausted all options for standard ratio c&p, gave up and bought a 2nd hand centre. At least with the *devil* diffs, (hilux) you can still buy all the right ratios for them. And you get the added upgrades of bigger axles & cv.s and bigger wheel bearings. Every ones opinion is different, But I've had two WT sierra's now and both with 31's have fucked out wheel bearings constantly. So running 33's on Sierra diffs to me wasn't an option. And yes I repack my w/b every 20k (isn't a dd so 20k takes me a couple of years)
My 2c worth, If you can get it engineered mate, go to the hassle I say.

im not anti hilux by any means. if i didnt have the coin i have tied up in my diffs now i would think very serious about goin lux diffs in my zuk(mainly cos theres a set of 4.8 airlocked ones in the driveway ).the extra width, strength and options is always goin to be a plus.
but from what i understand it just cant be done up there,no matter how much you hassle

also pete when you were talking about modding the width??
is it like here in nsw where you cant increase the width on the diffs by more than 25mm by say running neg offset rims but if you want to go and run lux diffs, patrol diffs whatever thats fine aslong as you dont increase over the new diffs specs by 25mm?Due to them being worried about load on bearings bla bla

I think nsw has that loophole. With zooks, Going by the Rta rules on the net, They are not meant to run 8" rims. But how many are engineered...
But if you run lux diffs, then new rules. Run 8"s, And new offset to them.
BUT
Nisdeo on outers. He has Pootrol diffs under his rodeo.. They are shortened! But i donn't know who engineered them with also like minimum 12" Lift. No joke. The thing is huge..
The lux WMS to Sierra WMS must be similar..
There are so many variations. Legal and illegal. Its all up to the engineer.

WT sierra is 1320
Solid axle hilux is 1397 WMS/WMS
You would need a +20- +25 rim

I said must be similar.. Which they are. But not within 50mm.
Yet Lux diffs are engineerable full size here.
My centre to centre on my swb is 1376. on zook diffs.
Hijack*So looks like i could run my same flare combinationon my new one. Only 10mm wider a side..

Scotty (Nisdeo) has his diffs narrowed because of the front pumpkin. If left standard width the pumpkin sits almost outside the chassis rail, making the spring a but hard to fit in there Athol Mullen engineered it, from memory its about 6 inch's lift. It did have a body lift from before the conversion but i think its been removed since, or will be removed.
Bit of detail about an engineer's cert. Just because and engineer signs off on something doesnt mean its legal. Even if an engineer signs off on extended shackles, because the RTA regulations prohibit them they are still illegal. Same for rims etc. Even with signatory approval the vehicle is still required to meed the relevant VSI/VSB/ADR/Aust. Standard etc etc. A police officer can also defect you for something that is engineered, as when it comes to vehicle roadworthy state and modification the onus is on the owner/operator to keep the vehicle in the correct state of repair. If you are defected and you feel it is wrong, you have to then get the defect cleared, and take the issue to court if you feel it is nessasary. Its a bullshit system, where a police officer with no automotive training can issue a defect because he "feels" that the vehicle is not roadworthy. Yet for a mechanic to issue a statement of roadworthy (in NSW anyway) the mechanic must do 4 years of apprenticeship, then 2 more years time in trade, then the RTA certification. And in the end the current police trick is to issue Emissions breaches. They require no roadside test, the officer uses his disgression to issue the notice. Then the owner must present his vehicle at a nominated test centre which are run by the DECC. Between the police, RTA and DECC they couldnt organise a root in a brothel so you get majorly screwed around trying to sort it all out. The emission test is damn hard to pass, I know a standard WRX straight from the factory barley passes. Let alone a car with some Km's on the clock and general wear and tear. They not only test the emissions but also the exhaust visually. If you have a catalitic coverter not in the standard place - instant fail.
Anyway, thats my rant for the day

I cannot see why they are not engineerable in QLD, oh wait I forgot this is the interwebs, and everything is illegal in QLD on the interwebs .
Anyway... If you are serious about ruining your car talk to a certifier/engineer; and by talk tell them what you want to do, and ask what do I have to do to make that legal. Short of making the vehicle spooky tall, putting anything other than skate board wheels on it, or being an idiot with engine choice, most things can be plated if carried out to a high degree of worksmanship.
