i need new tires for my coily. the smallest bit of mud and im stuck. i have coopers road tires at the moment and want to get something better for offroad. looking at 15x7 rims with -13 to -20mm offset with a set of maxis bughorns or a set of goodyear wanglers. can i use a 30" tire with only a 40mm spring lift? what offset is best with out to much scrubbing? any advice would be appreciated. |

You can, but they will scrub on the front tube that supports the bumper. Also the bumper too, at the bottom. They also scrub a bit at full suspension up travel. From memory that was with -17mm offset. I suppose if you cut the front tube shorter, the bottom lower outboard ends of the bumper out and massage some of the seams it would be okay long term. But you will need to sort out the bumper at least before you put the car in at the tyre shop. I drove mine (with just the bumper cut) for a few months before putting in a body lift. Tyres were BFG ATs, to me, they seem like good value for money. |
