I just got an e'mail form the makers of the Xrox bars and their will be a bar for the jimny early on in the new year. Has anyone made a xrox stlye bar for the Jimny? |

oohhhh sweeeeeeeeeeet!!!!!  I was thinking for a ARB bar (when I get any money  ) but this bar looks way much better, and something different
is nice to see there re developing more and more products for the Jimnys  
any info on how much it would be? |

yeah I research a bit a they re around that price but an ARB is 1K and the piranha offroad (ARB with some chops) 1200$ so having the xrox at 1K is not that bad..... yes it should be cheaper as is less material and work but at least is something different to choose having so many regulations of what you can or cant built for a 4WD in OZ thats pretty much my 3 options, I cant go custom for my airbags also AUS have a tendency to bit of lack of imagination in bullbars designs (commercial ones) so it comes pretty much resume to 2 (3 ish) different designs to choose from no matter what 4wd you have
...I miss my country in that sense, there re more designs to choose from (depending of the current fashion )
and yes the two sides are bolted together to the centre piece.... apparently is in order to be abble to replace just one side if it gets damaged instead of the whole bar
the only thing that dont like is the fact that there is no protection for the headlights..... otherwise I rather buy this bar instead of an ARB |

lol whats the point on having the wings on the bar if they snap backwards and smoosh into the body anyway?? i think if you got one, once assembled would be good to take it to a welder and have some gusseting put in so the bastard wont get damaged! |

Not sure on the price yet just waiting to hear back. i also asked them if they wanted to use my jimny for the developemt of the bar. Will let you know as soon as possible. |

not really, I used to have the 4wd action mag that compared bullbars... different brands on a hilux and they tested hitting the bar with a swinging heavy barrel (simulating a roo crash)... and the xrox actually resist the hit pretty good, if I remember right even better than the steel commercial ARB (the same model than the Jimnys), .... it was interesting to see big differences between the ARB commercial and deluxe models

You reckon the bolt heads would pose a pedestrian risk? Usually its any forward facing steel edge less than 15 or 20mm in width but I have never asked about bolts. Common sense dictates the use of a dome head cap screw, but I guess that would add another $50 to the customers buy price

joeblow wrote: as far as tests go that was a very piss poor attempt at simulating a kangaroo. donno if it was.. but they make a pendulum so the barrel hit the bar with enough speed and mass weight to simulate a kangaroo hit at 80 km/h (or 60, dnt quite remember good)... and they hit point was on the side or the wings, weakest point of bars either way they bend and destroy some bars, others just got some scratch the xrox perfomed really god, better than most brands... just wanted to point that, and the fact that the bolt on wings didnt were an issue offcourse a real roo hit would be prob at faster speed with some blood involved and prob some light/bonnet/panel/windscreen damage depending of the hit

I sort of agree with you there. But in ARB, TJM defence, a tube design will tend to look a bit ugly at times, as it exposes previously covered panels, bibs, aprons, beaver trims etc that the OEM bars would normally cover. Tube bars also tend to look more agressive, and therefore draw more attention from the boys in blue. |

Banana Bars in Coffs make nice tube bars. On the Coffs Harbour 4WD Centre's website there is a nice Jimny Build up. Found it when looking for accessories before we got our Jimny . Was thinking of going that way but opted for the more practical Arb Bar.
Here's some pic's of the bar. 
Currently the Banana Bars website is not working but you can check out Coff's Harbour 4WD Centre website. Tube bars look way too comp like, and I recon they would look heaps stupid on an slightly modded Jimny, especially if it was a dd |

That jimny is off it's head. But the xrox bars are not that aggressive. Check out a bar that that a comany called offroad-armoury.com in the uk. |

xrox bars a legal. the are air bag compatilble and also dot approved as far as i know, we sell a fair few of them and am pretty shore that there legal, could find out tho. but i dnt like the idea of them bolt together of the huge top tube. |

that doesn't suit the shape of the jimny at all, it looks like it was made from street sign poles. at least the XROC bars have a similar shape to the cheezy style of tube bar. |

The off road armoury bars are heaps better, but shipping would be a killer. Like Fatzook said tube bars don't cover up bib's, beaver tim's, ect. I like how on the banana bars they have put mesh in the gaps so you cant see in, but you could do that to the xrox bar as well. Yes the banana bar isn't the nicest but it floats my boat more than the xrox bars. |

the off road armoury bar will cost about $650AU in total including shipping but the was excluding the VAT ( the uk tax). |
