Hi there,

Does anyone know if it is possible to fit a set of 235/85/16 onto a GV (current shape) that has a 50mm lift? Is any modification required?

Thats a 32 inch tyre, seems doubtful.

keep it around the stock size so you dont need to do gearing, but get a more aggressive tread pattern like a KM2 or bighorn etc... you'll get further on a smaller chunky tread than you will on larger road tyres =)

Lift doesn't make a bigger tyre easier to fit on new GVs. What restricts you is the width, front to back, of the wheel well.

Here is a 245/75 16 Maxxis Bighorn (measures 30 inches, not the 30.5 it's supposed to).

That would have to be scrubbing on turning & compression..

I got 235/75/16 on the 07 GV now. It doesn't scrub at all.

They are Pirelli Scorpion ATR.

The tyre is visibly larger and looks great

There is no lift.

any reason you cant fit 265/70/16 (30.6 inches) on a 7 inch wide rim with +45mm offset (stock offset) on a new GV? even if it means adjusting steering stops? Prestiges come with a17'x7' rim and +45mm offset, standard model is 16' rim and 6.5' wide. This meaning its the same size diameter tyre as these 245/75/16, but it would be 10mm wider sticking out and 10mm wider in towards the wheel well.

I ask because i just so happen to have some 265/70/16's (worn) with 5x114.3 stud pattern and +45offset lying around.

take a wheel off and put the tyre in the wheel arch, then pivot the tyre around to simulate steering... if it rubs then you have a reason not to fit them =)

There is a tiny mark where the tyre just touches behind the the front shock on the RHS. And I think this only happens at low pressures (12 psi in this pic).

Max is 265/65/17. or 30.6x10.5x17

after trying many different combinations at a tyre shop, you cant fit a 16x8 +45 rim on a prestige model. It fouls on the strut at the back and on the top of the brake caliper. You can how ever fit a 17x7.5 +38 rim which allows you to fit 265 wide tyres. Diameter wise its still a maximum of 30.5 inches. I have some 2010 ford territory rims with 265/65/17 tyres and it JUST skims the plastic at the front when the wheel is turned. This is no big deal as the wheel will not be in this postition often, and when it is, it wont be turning very fast.

If you were to remove the plastic from inside the wheel well there is no reason why you cant fit 31x10.5. Ide remove it in a second if it wasnt my missus car.
