depends on what lift you have to fit the tyres and how stable you want it offroad, low and wide is my motto, for 4by's that is not women.

Go with -13 on the rims. I'm running 3 inch suspension lift with 235/75/15 Muddies and they sit outside the guards around 1.5 inches. Looks mad and the wider stance is great offroad. Plus no rubbing or trimming needed.

My car had 0 with 235 when I got it and it rubed a bit

I am currently running 235/75/15 Federal Couragia's on +3 offset 15x7" rims i only get a tiny bit of rubbing on the rear wheel are lip which could be fixed by hammering the lip over or bump-stop spacers. I have no lift and tyres stick about 10mm past the guards but not enough to noticeable need flares. You could probably still fit 30's on +3 rims but if you are planning a tyre any wider than that get the a bigger offset.

offset is essentially where the mounting face of the rim sits in respect to the centreline of the wheel

I have -13 with 235 and just bashed the crap out of the wheel well / firewall on the front and 50mm bumpstop spacers on the rear

the best for an offset will depend on how wide you want/need the track of your car to be and also depend on what tyre size you are looking at running. id say for anything a 30 or bigger you will probably want something with a negative offset.

I run 31on +10 with some trimming bump stop spacers and widening mod and steering stops to stop rubbing on the chassis
There would be no way I could get 31 on the back with-rims without a 3in body lift

If you only have the 2 inch body lift I'd say go for a set of 235's they are a good size and don't affect gearing too much and put them on some -13 offset steelies for a wider stance. The body lift should mean no rubbing at this tyre size. Not sure how you would go with 30's and only the body lift without doing a bit of guard bashing.

well im planning to do a 1.5in suspension sum time soon soo i can deal with abit of rub for the time being.

Post subject:  Re: tyres / rims for my vit what offset should i get????

if you are going the suspension lift as well then probably just go 30's straight up. I have no lift at the moment but will be doing a 2in lift start of next year. given you have the body lift that should give you enough clearance to run 30's worst case scenario you may need to extend bump stops or hammer over the seams in the front firewall

so with the -13 how much of the wheel actuly sticks out of the standard gaurd? in mm

Post subject:  Re: tyres / rims for my vit what offset should i get????

the outside of the tyre id say would be about 40mm past the guards. you would want to have 50mm flare to cover it all. FullyZooked mentioned before that his stick about 1.5in with 235's and a 30 isnt much wider than that

I have 50mm flexi flares and the tread is covered, bit of sidewall sticks out

50mm body lift, small coil spacers, Old Man Emu 40mm springs. firewall bashing and trimmings

i run -18, sticks out about 50mm from the body. i didnt buy the rims as there where on the car when i go it, but i think they work really well. yeah they are wide and scrub a bit but the width and the look makes up for it.

i think the lower outer edge of the mud flap is where the out edge of the stock wheels would be, and mine is a good 2.5" wider.

ahaha cheers, havnt been called that yet. if they are a nice rim and tyre, neat flare job she might like driving it. my gf likes driving mine, except for the steering (non P/S), maybe ask her and see what she says.
