generally caused by prolonged oil change intervals in the F10a, wears down the cam lobes |

Cam has to slide out the front. Rocker shafts both need to come out first I think.. This may not be easy with motor in car. |

the gear that drives the dizzy can be changed over without removing the camshaft |

lauby wrote: Oil leak - A drip every 2 seconds or so out of one of two 3mm dia. holes on the dizzy housing. It then ran down the back of engine onto the exhaust, not good really. Speculation by sparky was if hole was plugged oil would travel further up and into the distributer cap. Best guess because it spins backwards it's basically sucking instead of creating a positive pressure keeping the oil at bay.
Doesn't matter which way the dizzy spins, it does not build any pressure - there's a seal in there that's leaking. |

Will pull the cam out of the dead Maruti engine and have a closer look. fordem wrote: Doesn't matter which way the dizzy spins, it does not build any pressure - there's a seal in there that's leaking....
Might have to try a different sparky, i asked him this. it didn't leak before and as far as i know the only thing that was touched was the gear / lead plug on the end. It doesn't leak from the shaft mating to the housing, it's a factory hole a bit further up... |

The gear on the cam is NOT removable..... If it were my job, I'd remove the head. Swap the cams and relap all valves and refit head.... |

Hi guys, Sorry to bump an old topic. I have a f10a carry with a blown bottom end. I have bought and started prepping a maruti f10a. Few questions 1. is the cam profile different between the carry/sierra/maruti f10a's? 2. is a puller sufficient to remove the dizzy timing gear off the camshaft or will i need a hydraulic press? would i be better off swapping in the carry cam? 3. is there anything else i need to consider? am i missing something? |

losfer wrote: want33s wrote: The gear on the cam is NOT removable..... ohh really ? cause every 1 litre ive worked on it has been.. F10A and F8A have replaceable cam gears that are replaced by heating and pressing on. G series engines (G13A, G16A/B) have cam gear integral to the camshaft and cannot be replaced. Maruti MAY have gone to a one piece manufactured cam shaft, but Suzuki ones are certainly replaceable. |
