The diff center in my 1981 sj410 sierra ute is getting a bit shagged will the centre out of a late model lj80 stockman van fit and are the ratios the same ? I have done some searching but cant find any definent info on this. Cheers. |

I'm pretty sure they are the same size, but they won't be the same ratio. None of the LJ's had a 4.11 ratio AFAIK. |

Thanks for the quick reply. Do you know what ratio they would be ? I have lj50 and lj80 diffs I thought that I had read that the later model lj80's (stockmans) were 4.1s. |

Maybe. It would have been right on the crossover from LJ to Sj though. Suzuki has been known to do crazy shit from time to time. Can you count the teeth on the crown wheel and pinion gears? |

The Centres are still in the housings, I was hoping to find out before I pulled them out. Do you know what the count is for 4.1 centres ? This would save me pulling that diff apart, and it should be easy enough to rip the lj one out. |

LJ50 = 4.875 LJ80 = 4.556 LJ80 Stockman centres are interchangeable with 1 litre sierra but have different ratio. |

Does anyone now if a maruti diff will be a straight swap with the standard one from my sierra sj410 1981 ? Are ratios the same ? Will i have to swap side gears ? |

If its a NT 1 litre maruti they will be standard 1 litre 4.11 diffs and will bolt straight in. If its WT then no, It will still be 4.11 ratio but everything else about the diff will be to 1.3 specs and won't fit a 1 litre housing. Front and rear diff run different size axle splines, to run a rear diff in the front/vise versa you'd have to change side gears. |
