Hey guys,

I have an almost stock (RUF only,standard shackles) 93 Sierra and am starting to find that my steering is going very very sloppy.i can currently turn the wheel a little over 90degrees before it grabs!

As you can imagine this is proving somewhat interesting on the freeway. Wondering what is causing this and how to rectify?

there is an adjuster nut ontop of your steering box, do that up a touch and see if there is a difference.... then bushes, and king pin's and tie rod ends and check the spline on the steering shaft

Shackle's & bush's, if the pin's in the shackle's are moving in the plate's it can do the same thing, same as worn bush's...

Get a mate or two, then while you turn the steering wheel get them to watch the front end. With that much play the issue should stand out like dogs balls. Once you find it (it will probably be a combination of a few things), you can post up here if you are not sure on the fix.

check that ya still have a steering biskit.

if ya steering shaft thing from the steering wheel to the steering box looks like this then thats ya problem

shackles and bushes can do that? O.O my bushes are only like 500km old. il go check it.

yeah lay80,it seems to be ridiculous,like i turn the wheel plenty before the car even considers reacting.maybe a power steering upgrade is an order

found the problem! the bolt on top had practically come off!

thanks shep,good thinking. checked it while i was there,seems alright in this case luckily
