Post subject:  Sierra offset for 33's.
Can anyone tell me the distance from the hub out to the widest point of the flare on a WT Sierra?

Or what width rim, with ZERO offset, will sit flush with the widest part of the flare?

I'd like to know how far various sized, and various offset rims stick out past the flare.

Then I might be able to work out the minimum offset required for a 33x10.5r15 tyre on a 15x8 rim to clear the leaf spring on full lock. :idea:

A 15x7 with -1" offset will be pretty damn close. That's what I run with 235s. With a 10" tyre maybe halve the offset?

15x8 with 0 offset and a 10.5" tyre will clear the springs but I reckon it will hang outside the flare. I'm pretty sure my first zook had this setup.

My 20x8.5 with 33x12.5's are a +10 offset, and they strike the NT springs by 5mm or so. You having a 10.5" tyre would give about 20mm clearance from spring.

So any 0 offset or neg offset 15x8 should clear. (if you have NT spring spacing. Which you don't? :? )

My 33x12.5's rubbed full lock on the lugs only. Wt spacing. -28 offset 15x8. Tyres were undersize in diameter, so prob undersize in width too. Stock wt flare with 3" bushranger flare rubber came flush with sidewall.

Depending on flex too, they wil rub everywhere!

Yeah Fat, NT spring spacing would be the grouse, but I don't want to do any irreversible mods just yet.

Thanks Timmay. Looks like a -28 will clear the leaves for me then. I'm not worried about the tyres rubbing elsewhere.
I'll move the diff forward to clear the firewall and "modify" the guards to suit :wink:
Although, I only want just enough offset to avoid any unnecessary chopping.

I'm at sea at the moment, so it's a bit hard to measure stuff. I can have the tyres ready to pick up when I get home, but obviously can't order rims yet...
I'll try to borrow a 15x8 with a small negative offset, fit a tyre, then space it out until it clears.

i had 32s on a wt with -13 rims and only had light scrubbing on one tyre.

They don't hit the springs, but they only measure 30.5. I will have to have a look and measure the tyre to spring clearance on full lock. There should be plenty of room there.

My diff was 30mm forward. Cleared the firewall, but meant the rubbing was moved elsewhere. Got a BFH behind the headlight buckets, alot of room there, but still rubbed on full flex, stock bumps. Also rubbed on shock mount, Smoothed that with a hammer too. You may need to do that also. Again, mine may be different. Different heights, conditions, flex etcetc

I would think with a 10.5 tire it would be close, but not quite as bad.

A lot of it has to do with how wide the rim is VS the tire, a skinnier rim for a wider tire will make it bulge over the side of the rim more.

Well I fitted a 33x10.5 on a 15x8 -28mm offset rim today.

At full lock, the tyre clears the front of the spring easily, and the back clears by about 5mm.

I was going to get some speedy rims, but they only do -24mm offset now. I know it's only 4mm, but I really don't want to go any less then -28mm :?

Does anyone know what offsets are available in King or Dynamic wheels?
I can't find much info on them...

What if you ask for F100 pattern? Maybe they go by a listing..

Or source some f100-150 wheels from the us? Heaps around and cheap. my alloys were landed around 600aud.

rockcrawler rims are dear, but thats another option.

other wise u could run wheel spacers or get some 15x8s and have the centres cut out and flipped to give u some more offset, thats not really that expensive

Thanks Phil, I'll give him a call tomorrow.

Now the question is whether to get 4 or 5.
I've always bought 5 tyres, and rotated the spare regularly. But the Silverstones are directional, which would mean having a tyre changed on the rim each time. Also being play tyres, they won't see much road use at all, therefore should not wear quickly...

But then again, if I'm on the West Coast of Tassie and shred a tyre, that's a long way to drive with an unmatched spare... :?

Maybe see if you can get a 33.10.5.15 normal mud tyre to fit? I wouldn't run a directional tyre backwards because they are called directional for a reason :P

Slight change of plans, I'm now going to get 33x9.5r16's...

That's if I can find 16" rims with a suitable offset. I thought there would be more choice in 16", but it seems there is less.

my 15x7 -38's stick a 31x10.5r15 out of the flare by 50mm =P
