I have a coily Sierra and I need some custom front axels made for it does anyone know any places in Sydney that can do it for me or the number for dobbin engeneering by any chance. Cheers

WT diff with chromos, would be a better option.

I have the coily front diff which has a Detroit locker in it and I changed all my hubs, cv's ect to a 1.3 wide track brought chromoly cv's which i havent fitted yet, and the long side axel is about 20mm to short and won't lock when I lock the hubs so I wanted to get an axel made slighty longer to make up the difference and hardened. If that makes sense at all.

so how did you get a detroit for the coily from diff?

are you still using the standard axles? or are they some thing else.

if they are standard axles, the 1.3 cvs wont fit them

It's a Detroit all I done was change my whole diff both ends and all tailshaft mounts etc, has 1.3 axels in it now but apparently a coily is 30mm long then a wide track Sierra so the axel is slighty to short meaning I need a new one made though I want to make both new and hardened with the chrololys on them

right so you swapped your coily front diff for a 1.3 leafy front diff with a detroit?

So you have a coily housing and centre? Trying to run Leafy axles and cv's? Is it working for you? I'm confused

I dont thing there is a detriot for a coily centre, what i get from it is he has a leafy diff in there. with leafy shafts in a coily housing and has realised that the axle shafts are too short.

If this is the case have you also considered that the steering rod wont clear the leafy diff center as its not high pinion?

Yes sorry I have a leafy Detroit in there though original coily housing just everything else has changed, it was working with leafy axels though coily cv's which are 1l ones so they brake easily so I went 1.3 cv's and now it's to short. Steering isn't a problem have now done power steering with all different arms mounts and everything else so steering is fine ad out of the way. Hope that's a bit clearer

for all that work, it would have been easier to use a leafy WT housing aswell and just weld mounts to it.

as said though, Joe Blow for axles.

I could arrange Hytuff ones in a few weeks, but you would be looking at probably $600 a pair.
