I'm looking to buy a set of AT's for the GV, but I'm not sure if this is what I need as this is not my daily driver and it spends most if it's time off road, although I go want something a little more allrounder than the Maxxis Mudzilla"s which I'll keep for the mud.
I'm looking at:
BFG T/A KO
Cooper S/T Sure Trac
Maxxis AT-771 Bravo
Kumho KL78 AT
What are your thoughts?
Is there any others that maybe I have overlooked that might be suitable that are between AT & MT?

what size do you need and what terrain do you drive offroad???
most of the AT patterns i've seen look more like highway patterns... and offroad they just clog up and don't grip.
i love my BFG KM2's and even though i've only had the KL71's on for 24 hours i'm also loving them. If you're shopping for a "summer" tyre i think either are a great choice, although i would say the KM2 is ever so slightly better on smooth rock - but im not sure if its $100 a tyre better.
the bighorn 764 looks like a great tyre too and would be worth a look in to.

I was debating between the 753 and 764 (bighorns).
Ended up getting the bighorns, handle fine on the road, pretty good in the wet, pretty good offroad, and a touch noisey.
It's my DD and I tend to do a lot of spontaneous wheeling, so these suit my needs.
I have tried a few AT tyres previously and they were poop, which is why I went for the bighorns.
I use pedes for the mud.
EDIT:
Benefits of this option, means pedes get less use, atleast 1/2 the price of pedes, and similar price to other ATs.
And I hated driving past tracks etc and thinking, I'd love to do that, if only I didnt have my crappy ATs on.

I run D694's Bridgestones and love them. I have never been dissapointed with the grip in mud or rock.

Im guessing the $700ish is for the 4? Not too bad seeing as i was going to settle on the cheaper nexen all terrains for $150 each

I wouldn't go anything less than a mud tyre for offroad. But that's only because where I like to go you would have a bit more trouble.

Oh and the 75 series tyres are pretty much the same size as my 30's, maybe less than 10mm difference.
Oops I didn't read in your post that you car is NOT a daily drive. In that case, Muddies all the way!!!
Better traction, better puncture resistant, better in slop and rocks, better looking, overall and compared to AT's they're just better

Well this would be my first choice of AT as well. I have been trying for years to convince these guys that they are a fantastic tyre and drive beuatifully on the road too. Anything Japanese is FAR superior to all these Taiwanese and american tyres in build quality and design.

I like my Goodyears but they are driven on every day too

Ultimately, I guess I'm looking for a 265 / 75 / 16 or 31 / 10 1/2 / 16 with max rolling diameter of 810mm.
As I already have hardcore muds, I want something that I can leave on the car that is a little more forgiving and not as noisy for camping, regular day trips, hunting etc, and I'll put the muds back on if I'm going out to break something or if I know it's going to be wet and muddy. Maybe I need to look at an intermediate mud. I like some of the suggestions so far.

I run the Maxxis Bravo 771 LT AT, on my GV, and so far have been great, Rocks, little bit of mud, sand, went very well on all of them !  I got the 225/70R16's in Light Truck, $185 per tyre from Bob Jane T-Mart... Very happy with them !

Another vote for the D694s. Not really that aggressive, but they have handled everything Ive thrown at them with ease. Really good on road/sand also. I presume they are a factory tyre for a few fourbys as they are plentiful second hand. Easy to pick up a bargain

Obviously the 694's get good grip they broke your axle and twisted mine
