Ol' KT started making a subtle noise in 3rd this morning, and by this afternoon is making a very audible grinding noise in 3rd. All other gears are ok and so I'm just avoiding using 3rd at present. Is this a common thing with 1L transmissions - if so is it an easy fix or am I better off looking for a replacement gearbox?

First up change the oil in the box. Use a good quality 75/90 oil. If that doesn't fix it then look for another box

make sure your clutch adjustment is good too
