I have been thinking about putting some toolboxes over the wheel arches in the back of my sierra. I having trouble visualizing it and if will give me enough space to be worth wile. I would like it to follow the contour of the wheel arch so it doesn't look to rough. o and I'm keeping the back seats in. Has anyone put lock boxes here before?

i had timber boxes that ran down the sides of my coily like u want. it was handy

I was thinking about making them out of steel but thats difficult to manipulate. timber might be the go, I used to do some woodworking and I could to that up in the back yard

I had a toolbox mounted on the inner guard, where the jack used to live.
Nice and secure, plus all your tools are there for when your zook shits itself.

can I piss off those supports that run from the seatbelt bolt to the body? that would give me some extra room to work with

I was thinking about doing the sane thing. But out of metal and make it lockable so I can put my things in there if I go to beach or anywhere that I has to leave my car for a while and I can't see it. If was just going to screw/rivet/bolt it to the side of the wheel arch right next to seat and just go straight back to the rear door and up about the same height as the wheel arch where I will try and attach it the same.
Just a really rough idea in my head. And will proba be doing it in a couple months

Hell no, in a crash when your bodyweight is thrown against the seatbelt that stops the b pillar from coming forward.

Without it, you may as well take the seatbelts out...

ya hotshot I have a mate who is a sheety, so the original plan was for him to do something up on the cheap, but once we got to measuring he started pissing and moaning about how small they were going to be. something about needing grooves to allow the door to work, and with the grooves it was only going to be 100mm wide. I dunno. I was after a rectangular box with a lid, whack on some dirty old hinges a lock and hit it with the grinder to march the wheel arch. he wasn't really going for it. I'm going to have a look at what bunnings or super cheap have. anything can be modded with a grinder. I'm a pretty shit welder but I don't really car what it looks like just has to be made out of steel so I can arc weld it.

i put mine under the bonnet like lump_a_charcoal for the same reasons.
