Hey guys im looking at grabbing this front diff from an early 90's zook but all i need is the diff centre to replace mine in the rear of my 89 WT. My question is will it be a straight in fit? Cant find much using the search either sorry *EDITED* forgot to note down rear, to much working and not enough thinking! |

You posted in the VITARA wrecking thread so I thought you wanted a Vitara diff. Not that I can help with a rear WT centre at the moment anyway.... |

If you're buying a front diff to put the centre in your rear diff - don't. The front and rear axles are different. They have different spline counts. |

Hey guys another quick question about another one. The rear of a 88 WT? Would that be the same gearing to go straight in as a 89? Cheers! |

Maybe. I would be checking the ratio your running and use the years a a guide. You never know if the donor has had the ratio swapped in a former life |

anything 88-89 treat as suspect, if it has metal flares it should be 3.7 like later ones, if it has plastic flares it could be either |

88 diff could be either 3.7 or 3.9 ratio, as that was the changeover year between NT and WT. Some of the new WT zooks were a bit of a hybrid. You need to check the ratio of the diff centre you took out. Count the number of teeth on both the ring and pinion gears. Then divide the number of teeth on the ring gear by the number of teeth on the pinion gear. For example (NOTE I'm not sure if these are the actual numbers, you need to count for yourself): Ring = 41 teeth Pinion = 11 teeth 41/11 = 3.7 ratio |

Only reason im really double checking is because im using this to drive to work daily, so if i go ripping bits apart and fuck something i dont want out of transport The donor car im looking at is zook95's tintop hes wrecking here. http://www.auszookers.com/index.php?nam ... ic&t=18902 Looks to me very similar to mine as in flares and such. Except mine as metal and his are apparently plastic? Anyway using the VIN numbers or anything to compare? |

That might mean the diff ratio's are different to yours. I wouldnt buy it before checking the ratio of your diff first. |

Is there some info anywhere online that lists the different diff ratios for different models? |

You can find that info on here, but as royce said 88-89 can be a big unknown as there were 3 model changes those years. They went from Nt-Wt in 88 and from sj50 to sj70 in 89. |
