Speak to the engineer BEFORE you buy a kit from the states. It would be a shame if you imported a kit and the engineer said no to it.

SPOA is at least a $2.5K job done properly. Just ask Alien. Make sure you can afford it before you approach the engineer. They get endless calls from tyre kickers who waste their time and then bin the project when they're asked to do certain things that might get expensive.

Also remember that because an engineer will pass it doesn't mean it's a good idea, only that its safe enough to use on the road. The engineer won't make any comment about whether it's going to work properly off road - that's not what he's taking responsibility for. It's not hid fault if you get outdriven offroad by a guy with 30's and a welded diff.

At the end of the day, built properly and engineered, you'll have a ton of money in a car that could have run the same tyre with a $200 body lift.

I'm not being negative. You need to know exactly what you want to achieve before you speak to an engineer or you'll be wasting their time. There ARE advantages in SPOA. Funnily, the advantage is mostly in deep mud, where the loss of COG is less important and the loss of junk under the axlehousings is a huge advantage. For most off road work, SPOA doesn't offer a specific advantage.

Steve.

PS You don't just want a tall car do you?
