Hey, i've had my 1979 lj81 sitting in my dads shed for 6-7 years now, it worked well when i bought it, planned to fix it up along time ago, but now i finally am getting around to it!. the Body is quite rusted, the floor has almost rusted away, not being able to put much weight on it. the main problem is that the chassis im planning on restoring it so it can pass the pits and it can be back on the road once again. i dont have the biggest budget, but obviously it needs to be a decent job. i also have a Picture version of the owners and service manual. any advice would help thanks! oh and i live in Tasmania BTW. How are you with a welder? If you have a decent mig welder then it's all pretty easy. You'll obviously have to remove the body from the chassis to do the floor properly and the main thing is taking your time with it. the Front clip looks pretty rusted, it may be easier to find a replacement rather then fix it. |

Hey, I've got a Mig, just not confident enough to use ot on panels yet, i'll have to practise some more!. I'm looking into a replacement, but im going to bog it while i wait... see how i go. working on making room to remove the body tonight. |

bump, gonna call some places in a minute! found brand new fenders from NZ for around $190Aud without postage yet. and this place can source parts for lj80's http://www.citroa.com/ didnt see prices though! |

Goodluck with it mate I was lucky to have one with very minimal rust. It's at the panel beaters ATM getting a respray. You should start by getting a wire wheel onto a rust spot and take it back until it's all gone. Then you'll know weather to rust kill in and put weld there. Or just cut it out and weld a new bit in. |

Thanks!, im thinking about buying one of the engine restoration kits off ebay, you think thats a good idea?, and dad told me that one of the diffs has something wrong with it, so i'll look out for some, otherwise i found where i can get some new ones. |

I finally get to see the Zook he's told me about. Good luck on the restore Yeah, picked up an f10a engine(i need to strip it down) and 2 new seats cheap few weeks back. still no room ATM to do much on it, hopefully soon that will change.
