| Post subject: | Brake fluid Q's - mixing brands |
Is it OK to mix brake fluid brands? I know you shouldn't mix grades of brake fluid, ie DOT 4 & 5, but what about brands of the same grade? I've read a few warnings about not mixing brands but I'm not sure if it's just marketing hype or if it's a genuine reason (like mixing coolants etc). |

mixing brands is ok just dont mix grades check on the container and chek the spec |

Most brake fluid containers have "mixing conditions" on the labels. The Lockheed fluid I have here says Quote: DELPHI Lockheed DOT 3 Motor Vehicle Brake Fluid exceeds F.M.V.S.S No 116 DOT3 specification and current specification S.A.E. J1703.
Suitable for all hydraulic Clutch & Brake systems except for those requiring mineral oil and can be mixed with all brake fluids conforming to the above specifications. |
