yes. Small steps, when you do this, screw it in till the engine runs ruf, screw it out till the engine runs ruf. Make sure you do this in a manner that is able to be well understood, ie, very carefully count your turns, half turns is the way to fly. When you have done this, from in and out, ruff to ruff a few times, work out how many turn there are. Say, you go from inner ruff idle, to outer ruff idle, and its 4 turns, then the "start" tune, it 2 turns, middle of the screw variance. This is a start, you then drive it, feel how she goes, then try 1/4 turns, if she be a bit sluggish off the mark, in a quarter turn. A little play, but remembering where things are as a start, and you will find the best, sweet spot, for your carby/engine. On a new car, you may well be able to do a "by the book tune" but as things age, they take on a completely different reality, so, you tune by the seat of your pants. I have a lot of fun tuning carby engines, extracting out every hp i can. If this starting tune procedure does little, there are quite a few things to look into. Timing, leads, plugs, jets, fuel flow, and air flow. Nothing is set in concrete. Remember, this is only the idle mixture, if your car is rich at operational speed, it could be your jets are floged out, your plugs are past their use by date, your timing is out, even to your air filter is a bit blocked. |

ok .. i just feel when i put my foot down it lags .. also hard to start up use's to much fuel old spark plugs where bad ... etc also its a reco carby not sure how good my timing on the car |

Yes, idle only. IF it does not make any difference, then its time to look further. It is only a very small part of the whole. It is the start point tho. |

All happens when you go from idle, to your initial push on the throttle. This is where it is most important. |
