I changed the Auto hubs on the GV over the weekend with coily manual hubs. Nothing too hard. Took off the auto, put on the manual.

Tonight when the missus pulled in the driveway, I checked to see if it was still in the 'FREE' position. Of course it was, but it was very hot. You couldn't keep your hand on the hub assembly for more than a few seconds.

Are they supposed to get hot, have I done something wrong or is there something else wrong?

Thanks :helloo:

I put some in. Not a lot though. I didn't have the tool to remove the clip, so I didn't pull it apart.

Do you think I should strip it down and put new grease in?

if your hub is hot my bet is its time to regrease your wheel bearings or you have a brake that is dragging.

they should never get hot to touch even when locked in as they are not moving so dont create heat

According to the service record, the front brakes were only done about 10k ago. How do you know if your brakes are 'dragging'?

As for the wheel bearings... I have NFI how do check/change it... :(

I might have to ask Mr Knife for his assistance.... :helloo: Mr Knife...
