G'day, Just wondering if anyone has upgraded the drum brakes on an SJ40 to disc brakes. What they used? And how they did it? Thanks, Jackson |

you can use the disk brake setup from a later model 1 litre or any 1.3 |

So that would bolt straight on? Does it matter if the disc brake setup comes off a wide track? Thanks, Jackson |

It's a straightforward swap. After buying my 1.0 with a drum front end, I never put it on the road with drums - I swapped discs straight into it. Steve. |

One more quick question. Would I be correct in thinking that I will need a disc brake model master cylinder? |

you could get a 1.3 master cyl with booster, but i have been told they bolt up differently. You would be better off getting a master cyl off a late model 1 litre with disk brake front but no booster. If buying a new one tell them you want one for an 84 1 litre. (yes drum to disk is a different master cyl, but i dont know how it would affect braking performance, if at all. |

The replacement SJ410 M/C from Suzistore is the Disc Brake version, seems the drum version is very hard to find new or aftermarket.. Although the firewall to pedal dimensions are the same, the Boosted master cylinders bolt up very differently and will require modifying your firewall. |
