A colleague borrowed my Jimny for a few days. I am sure he did not abuse it, but my car now has a horrible scraping, screeching noise coming from the drivetrain. I am still able to drive it, but it sounds horrible. It gets worse when I engage the clutch to change gears. I got in below the car, and the noise is definitely coming from the gearbox area. Anyone has an idea of what can be wrong?

I doubt that it is the engine - so it must be the clutch then. Any recommendations on where I could go in the Brisbane area to get it fixed at a decent price?

89_tintop - sounds about right. The screeching sounds like a shot bearing. I am in Carindale.

Steak_knife - Thanks, PM me your address and phone number. I will have to take the bus while you work on it. Let me know when I could bring it over.

I forgot - it's a 2002 model with M13 (non VVT) engine.

Report in with what it is. I thought if it was throw out bearing it would only screech when pedal in pushed in....
could it be the dust cover thingo??? I have heard this can happen.
