Im not sure whats involved in making them fit though.. If its just a standard 1.3 thats being rebuilt then I would just used standard mounts. |

I'm sorta in the same boat as you Matty - got a fresh g16 short motor comin from Suzisport that I'm about to install (G16A conversion) and will probably use the RB30 engine mounts. My old Sierra had the G16A conversion and I seemed to chew through the Suzuki mounts quite regularly (the passenger side mount only). Do the VL mounts sit the engine at the same height as the std Suzuki mounts? I'm a little concerned that they might sit the block a little higher than the Suzuki mounts. |

I have personally had no experience with getting an engine swap engineered. My last 1.6 was all done in-shop by Suzisport Cairns in 98. I would say that getting the N/A 1.6 blue-plated would be a no-brainer as long as the mods are simple and clean. However for a turbo'd 1.6 I'd be having a good long chat with an engineer. They will most likely want brake upgrades etc due to the significant power increase the turbo would provide. Someone here will have a much better idea on the ins and outs of getting ur EFI turbo 1.6 engineered in QLD. FATZOOK? |

I am in ongoing discussion with an engineer regarding my 2.0L upgrade ( which would nett similar power to a low boost turbo 1.6 ) and brake, suspension and other driveline modifications have been necessary to keep the engineer happy to sign off on the conversion. Is your vehicle engineered in your home state? |

Well I'm trying to get a bit more than a motor upgrade approved so some of the required items serve a dual purpose, so its not really clear as to what is required for the motor alone. But these things were required ( although already on my to-do list Front and rear brake upgrade from the vehicle the engine is from ( SV420 ) Including the master cylinder. Increased spring rates etc to handle extra weight of driveline. (the coilovers are tunable) He also had concerns about differential and axle strength, but was ok with my suggestion of cromo axles /cv's. I later decided to just run the entire rear diff from the SV420 anyway. And since I am trying to get my 33's approved aswell, I have had to look into upgraded wheel studs, wheel bearings, brakes etc for that aswell. |

This is what most people do. I managed to get 2x VL mounts in but I only bothered with this because I had no sierra mounts that were worth refitting. |
