running springs from them in the jimny.. i like them.. ride is really good.

i know they arent the exact thing your looking at getting but i dont think anyone is running them in aus.

as for the strut extension.. i would say they probably are illegal

Mate go the calmini kit. It's more then the cheaper kits but they flex better then you will get other kits flexing.

And $1000 for a kit is peanuts compared to other cars

I'll Vouch for the Flex in my Vit. Calmini have got it going on...

Pros : Great Flex, Calmini very easy to deal with in getting the kit landed @ your door, Makes a great base to start other modification.

Cons : Shocks aren't the greatest, but like i said it makes an awesome base to start your project on.

yeah i know calmini seems to be something like the pinnacle of vit suspention,
but my dad wont let me do anything 'illegal' so 2 inch is all im allowed if anything..

just thought this stuff looks decent, and is cheap as.
im gunna sus this out more and hopefully buy something soon

Calmini do a 2" kit aswell But if thats all you wiill lift it, i'd just get a spring and shock combo from here like dobinsons.

the first set have "Machined front shock spacers, these screw on the top of your existing shocks / dampers" which sound abit dodgy and and the second set say struts are optional

Oh, I didn't see that.

Blech, for that money I'd either get a Calmini kit, or a set of Dobinsons, at least you'll have someone you can call up and talk to if something goes wrong.

the only reason i was looking at this kit is cause of the price, i think it works out to about 4-500AU$ shipped.

i highly doubt i would be using those strut spacers or mount flip, which means ill have to get new struts anyway, so doesnt work out that cheap in the end i guess lol.

im looking into dobinsons now, but ironman might be the way to go. i really dont want the trouble of changing bushes ect in commo shocks either.
really just gunna depend on whats best for the cheapest.

I dunno what some of the blokes are talking about with the $1000 lift kit prices?
Dobisons kit is $900 where as This kit costs $500 to your door....Thats a $400 saving. You cant compare the two....Thats alot of money.

They are good springs and they are good shocks. The front strut extenders are fine....If you dont like them, buy new front struts...Sure as hell wont cost $400...

I wanted a Dobisons kit, but I cant justify 900 for a 'non serious' off roader. Need to think bout the application and what the benefit is.
I was not interested in a commo shock/spring spacer lift, this was the next best and cheapest alternative.

The strut extenders are a very poor solution to a problem that shouldn't exist.

Buy new struts.

Strut spacers are a better alternative to extenders in my opinion.
But longer struts is best.
If Jimny Bits is same as Bits4Vits then he is good to deal with.

Here is another option just to put it out there for ya.
I'll qualify it tho, I have no personal experience on the Vit as I have a GV and am basing what I say on that.

Give Repco a ring and see about shocks/struts. I got a full set for <$450 and am happy with their performance combined with stock springs (albeit LWB V6 springs in a SWB 4 cyl). They ride well and are longer than the OEM offering. If I was keeping the car and wanted to add stronger springs then I reckon they would handle the job quite well.
One bonus is after sales warranty if something does go wrong, Repco is everywhere.
If you wanted a bit more lift on a budget then perhaps spring spacers is a suitable option or perhaps hunt around and you might be able to get some springs 2nd hand for cheep.
I think I saw brand new Ironman springs on Ebay for about $160 a pair but not sure what model they were for



EDIT: Just to add a bit of math to it all, the 2nd kit on your OP you are paying ~$230 for rear shocks and ~$340 for 4 springs and that is before shipping (rough guess about $100) and any shipping back and forth for warranty should anything occur.
Re3ckon you can do the same or better for stuff already in Oz

didn't got_bar_work recently have one of those threaded shaft extensions pull out...

personally I wouldn't use them, you're better off with the strut top spacer used by calmini & a few other companies supply that style of spacer

As Royce said... Don't do anything halfbaked with your suspension. I am a huge fan of doing things like brakes, suspension and tyres properly. Driving on the roads is a privilege not a right so if you can't afford to do it correctly then don't do it as it's not just your safety you are risking. Save and do it when you can afford it.
