I own 2 Maruti utes, a 91 and a 92. Today i tackled a simple task of replacing the rear bearings on the 92 cause it had a bad vibration. All started well until I realised I have to disconnect the brake lines get the axles out. No biggy, so once that was done I happen to find the bearings were fine. Ok must be in the diff. Yep sure was, the bearings closer to the tail shaft are flogged out. I just pulled the other diff out of the 91 so I can get the 92 going. Wrong. The bloody diff inners are different sizes, same axle splines 26. Worked out also that the 92 has a transfer handbrake and has early 1.3 NT diffs and the 91 has 1ltr WT diffs and a drum style handbrake and I thought they were the same. So now I have 2 Marutis off the road, bummer. Still not sure how to pick the difference yet between NT 1.3, NT 1ltr and WT 1.3 and WT 1ltr. |

Update, ok now I have realised that I actually have 2 x 91 Marutis. One is a wide track and the other is a narrow track. Strange really as I thought coming out the same year they would be very much the same. I guess I wont need those WT axles after all jono from Berkley, your off the hook dude. |

No standard 91 Maruti will be a WT. They didn't appear until 94. |

Comfirm its a wide track, not sure of its history though the diffs are wider and has the flared factory guards and looks like its never been pulled apart. Im not convinced in what you saying Fatzook. |

Oi Fat zook how hard is it to put WT axles onto a Maruti lwb Ute ? is it just a matter of changing the perch's on the WT axles ? and the Transcase Flanges ? also how would the Diff Ratio's go witha 30s and the 1 L engine .. sorry if im highjacking kinda same subject |

Depending on what springs you have you may need to look at bumpstop spacers. Also pays to check your brake line length, although this isn't usually an issue. As for the diff ratios, Maruti is 4.1, and WT is 3.7, so its gonna hurt you pretty bad. If going to 30-31's you could look for some 4.6 vitara ratios and slot them into the WT carriers and that should get you moving along nicely. Flanges should be interchangable. |

Thanks for the info should i just change the flages on the 1 L transcase when he puts reduction gears in .. thats another story haha also wouldnt it be better puttting something like 4.57 Ratio Nitro Gear into the diffs ? might make my own thred about this |

Why? Costs you more money, and is harder to get replacements for. And its almost the same ratio.
