As the title says i'm looking into strut braces for the vit.
I was told that the earlier vits don't have them until the 2L's.
Will any of these fit my 95 SWB vit? or would i have to get one made up?
Are they worth looking into to strengthen the strut towers?

The 2l ones would be to wide but u might be able to cut a peice out an weld them back up

thanks mate, so chances are there are none that will fit my vit without being modified.
i think it would definately be worth it to fit one, at least just for the piece of mind - does anyone know how much wider the 2l ones would be?

I can't remember how much wider the SV420/SV620 strut towers are compared to the SE416... maybe 120mm from memory???

I do know that the strut towers flex that much both front wheels need to be off ground to be able to fit & remove the factory strut brace, would hate to see how much movement there is on a SE416 when it's getting used off road.

Yeah 2L ones are far too wide.

Just make one for the SE416.

ill try call suzuki tomoro if not ill give the local suzishop a call see if i can find out more info. i'm just trying to prevent shock breakages and i think this would have to be a contributing factor..
Otherwise i think ill try an engineer - anyone have any they recommend here in perth?

Are you actually have any issues? Are you planning on doing track days or gymkhanas? If not then don't bother. Hundreds of thousands of SE416's have being running around under all conditions through-out the globe for decades, and suzuki NEVER thought it necessary to fit a strut brace. I have never heard of any problem arising from said lack of strut brace, so unless you will be putting yours through riggors not usually seen by off-road driving, save yourself the hassle.

I'm having some issues, but im also just trying to take preventative measures to help avoid breaking anymore shocks. i'm not sure if this is the cause or even if its adding to any of my shocky problems. My last set of shocks lasted 2 days and ended up breaking just driving over some bumpy sand dunes.
i do do some fast driving but i do try to avoid anything that will obviously hurt my car lol.
i guess no one here has run them either then.
do you know what made them fit them to the 2l vitaras?

My guess is that the wider stance of the 2L places more leverage on the upper strut tower.

If you are blowing shocks, i'd be looking at your bumpstop position, and if the strut is sized correctly for your suspension setup.

What lift do you have? What brand of shocks etc?

Fastest way to kill the struts mate is if its topping or bottoming out. Has the car been lifted or had the strut mounts flipped?

When you say they are breaking what do you actually mean? Just the seals on them blow?

Running OME lift & spring spacers.
Have ordered new Dobinsons front shocks
these bump stop spacers
these strut spacers 1.5"(since i didnt liek the idea of just flipping my strut mounts and while i was there,
these diff drop brackets
i will do a test fit before i put the springs in to make sure they dont bottom out or over extend.
The other thread is what lead me to believe that it might possibly be bent strut towers that could be causing my problems, therefore me wanting to put in a strut brace.

edit: if u cbf reading the other thread - my first set of shockies exploded oil(the original ones from when i bought my car) - 2nd & 3rd set have both done the same thing - i can grab the cylinder of the shock and wobble it back and forth(there is sideways movement). it also makes gridning noises if i go up and down curbs or something.
