Just a quick tyre width question. I phoned up the local tyre shop today saying I wanted to fit a set of 235/ 75 mud tyres (either KL71's or Bighorns) on the Vitara, and they cringed a tad (which was kinda good Cheers, Phil |

I've got 235/75r15 bighorns on a stock sierra. Other than some slight clearance issues they fit fine. Onroad with ~30psi they're magic to drive. Very light steering. Lighter and better tracking than the hancook HT's they replaced. The narrow rim width concerned the tyre shop fitting them but I talked them into it. Have not had a problem to date. $920 for a set of 5. |

Cool, thanks for the info. I'd read a little about 235's being fine on stock rims- so I wasn't worried about that- just wasn't sure if they were noticibly "heavy" to steer. And that's a great price for the Bighorns. I priced some 235/ 75/ 15's the other day $217 fitted. Where did you get yours from? Cheers, Phil |

most tyre shops re gonna look at u weird, mostly because that size of tyre is not the factory size of your zook same happen when I ask in a couple of shops about some 215/75/r15 for my jimny.... the first question they askme was "for what car its?".... I told them for my jimny... they look at me like like weird like if I didnt knew the correct size for my car..... I had to tell them that I knew It was bigger, that's wht I wanted to be, and Im fitting a 2" lift so wont be a problem blah blah.... bit irrelevant as the question should be "wht size of rim re u running" to see if the tyre fits or not same when I ask them about alloys wheels options for the jimny.... I told them.. sorry I "try" to tell them I was looking for options in the 15x7 in 5x139.7 .... and they keep asking wht car ti was.... I told them jimny, but the stud patern for them was blah blah they kinda dnt pay attention..... got a call few days latter to tell me that for the jimny they only have one model.. I search for it in internet and that model doesnt come in the correct stud pattern for jimny its up to u to know the consequences and requirements for fitting a lager tyre in your zook (lift, gearing, castor correction ect).... they re just doing their jobs at telling u thats a wrong size for u car (as its nto the factory size).... but at the end they re there to sell tyres... u want 235/xx/xx... they must sell u that... just explain to them u have done ur research about it |

if its an Illegal size for your car they can tell you to bugger off if they want. I would just take the rims in seperatly and get them to fit the tires. non of their business what car they are for |

It's my money, so they'll put on what I want They mentioned some tyres called Nankang 889's. Cheap as ($180 each fitted) and I found a few really good reviews on-line. Anyone on here running a set? http://www.nankangtyres.com.au/tyre21/n-889.php Cheers, Phil |

Why? You can get the maxxis bighorns in 235/75 fitted for $175 each. Every man and his dog run bighorns. What's that tell you? Ok, last sentence sounded pretty farked. You get what I'm saying though. |

I'm hearing you. My first preference -in order- were Bighorns and KL 71's, but no tyre dealers up here (that I've found so far) had Bighorns cheaper than $215 each. That was at Bobjane Must be a "living in the country" thing where you get ripped off for pretty well everything... Cheers, Phil |

Might want to confirm you don't have to run a rim offset with 235's. I got a Sierra (not a Vit), but 235s = full lock scrubbing on mine, and I got a 2 inch lift. |

you'll be fine, 235 on stock springs and rims is a good size. you can let them down to 8 to 10 psi and not be stressing about rolling a bead unless you are really stupid. i dont think you'd even notice the difference in steering only a little going up hills. had 235's on my last vitara and loved them. i'm looking for a cheap set for dailys right now |

i didnt really notice the difference at all on the vit when i got my 235/75s federals on. except bob jane had pumped the tires up to 36psi so they were only running on the center 2 lugs. once i found a good pressure much better. as for the speedo on the gps its only 2kmh out. |
