Post subject:  Possible electrical fault in dash....ROYCE LOOK HERE!!

Hi All,

Searched but nothing really found. My temperature gauge moves under acceleration....yes that is not a typo. Sits under half when stationary then drops to under C when accelerating.

Also, my 4wd light in the dash comes on and off, under acceleration also.

Possible earth fault??? Where do I find the culprit if it might be the case??

Help 8O

Cheers

Rusho

Can you see any loose wires hanging in there?

Sounds like something is crossed up!

Maybe a hole has rubbed in the insulation on a pair and is crossing them over?

Can you park on a hill (to simulate acceleration) and unplug both of the wires causing issues (temp sender and 4wd light) and then test them?

EDIT: Apparently it's most likely to be an earth fault as below (for anyone who's searched and found this).

Check you earth wire from the body to the battery, could be only getting an earth through the acc cable by the sounds of it.

I had the same problem with my Vit mate, add a heavy gauge Earth wire from your body to your battery and should be sorted.

mine was doing the temp thing the other week, 2800rpm it went nuts

I just crimped the terminal up and pushed it back on :)

unplug the transfer switch, see if that fixes the light

i had the same problem with my vit temp used to move with revs found that sender unit had a bad connection and the backflow from the fan was causing the temp to move. squeezed the lug and slip it back on and the guage hasn't moved since.

That conveniently happened to a caryard car that was going to cost them an arm to repair. (not anyone that I work or have worked for) was left out side one day.. And come in the next day and it was burnt out

I know it's more than likely to be the earth (as mentioned previously), but if it turns out it isn't, I have a spare coily cluster you could use for trouble shooting.

unless of course steaky's fix has been used
