OK i have spat it now.
i had my alt out, went to the auto eleci, he wanted $250 to have a look inside and give alt a clean.. ah NO..
so i pulled her down. looked pretty normal, plenty of mud etc bearings felt fine.
so i put her all back together and bolt it back in the zook (loosly) and it spins, chuck belt on (new), tention up and start car... squeels like a stuffed pig for 10min, and even reving up and not would not make the belt pick up...
turn car off. tighten belt up further.. and tighten up bottom bolt.
go to start car..
and the fucking thing is seized again!! FFS.
i am now stumped.
the bottom bolt was fairly loose when i undid it (nylock nut on it) maby it has been like this all along?
the alt is a snug fit in the mount and wouldn't be more than 1mm of gap it pull's up.

mine did this and on closer inspection the body was cracked, so when under tension, it seized, spun like a baby of the car

Are you sure the alt is seized, could it be another pulley that has had it? Had this happen to me once. Thought my a/c comp was stuffed, turned out to be an idler pulley.
