crunching gears on a jimny?

wen ever i change gears mostly 1st to 2nd going up or down the gears theres a crunch could it be the clutch, slave or bushes just trying to get an idea?

It's the synchro's in the box. You may get away with just changing the oil, just make sure it's the right grade

First thing to look at is clutch play. A simple tightening of the clutch cable is all it could need.

Is there play in the clutch peddle before pressure sets in or is there pressure as soon as you touch it?

Change the oil to castrol vmx80... Did wonders for my gearbox dramas..

Had very similar problems that you are having ... changed the oil to the castrol stuff and was like driving a completely different car.

cheers ill try and change the oil and see if it makes a differance. is it hard to change or fairly easy?

The hardest part is getting the oil in if you don't have the right tools. You'll need a pump of some sort

How good are these? I inherited one but I've never used it. Do they pump the heavier oils ok?

I had issues with gear changes, it would not shift between gears very smoothly, but i now have VMX80 oil in the gear box (cus stekky told me to) and it's so much smoother now.

take the fill out first too!

huge huge huge! pain in the arse if you drop the gearbox oil only to find you cant get filler bolt out

where having that problem in ours, only when having to change in a hurry from second to first, if your just casually slowing down its not to bad, think its due for an oil change any way.

THATS THE SAME PROB IAM HAVING NOW ALL THE OTHER GEARS ARE FINE I JUST HAVE TO LET THE REVS DOWN B4 I CHANGE THEN ITS FINE.

I think Vmx80 only come's in 4lt....

from memory they take 2.3lt's....could be wrong tho.

It's not ment to be used as a penis pump, are you sure they were the STM Tom Thumb Pumps not some cheap knockoff?

pretty sure stekky is right.

did mine not so long ago and used a bottle that we had on the shelf at work and it was around half full (5 litres) and took pretty much the whole lot.

CASTROL SAY TO PUT EPX 80W/90. IS THERE ANYTHING BETTER?
