Have you worked out how to transfer fuel between the tanks?

Not being a smartarse, just curious on how you are planning to do this.

we have a few cars at work (not SUZUKI) that are set up on a switch.

Essentially set up as two separate fuel tanks 2 fill points, one each side of the car 2 fuel pumps and separate lines up to a solenoid then one line from their on

use one of these:


its a pollak 6 port fuel valve and it will set you back about $150. I've brought one for my sierra, haven't installed it yet though.

what about venting the main tank to the pick up (bottom) of aux and than vent aux to the charcoal canister.
the fuel will be drawn from the aux tank as a vacuum is created from the main fuel tank level dropping

I would assume that means there is no vent on either tank to make the vacuum? Would this make it non ADR compliant?

if both tanks are at the same level, (top and bottom)
with the breathers both linked together,
and a decent internal diameter fuel line-fitted low down on both tanks, (I have seen the sediment drain in the bottom of the tanks used)
they will naturally transfer between both tanks- while needing only one fill point
only disadvantage is you need to allow time for fuel to transfer tank to tank while refuelling- thats why you use large diameter fuel hose.

I did this years ago with a V6 capri and it worked well.

if using sediment drain points on the tanks, just fit a decent water seperator type fuel filter

or you can do like Mahindra did with thier CJ3B jeeps twin tanks, simple fuel transfer pump from secondary tank to primary tank.
but this needs 2 fill points.

Both tanks would vent from charcoal canister main tank would draw fuel from aux before emptying than drawing air from aux via charcoal this was how longranger tanks worked on early 40 series land cruisers, also on rally bikes with rear tanks (Dakar etc) just an idea
If you had no vent on a fuel tank the engine would stop before the tank ran out of fuel.

I have been in contact with Outdoor Auto in Brisbane and this guy is working on a Jimny tank at the moment.

I have been in contact with Outdoor Auto in Brisbane and this guy is working on a Jimny tank at the moment. It is not ready quite yet but I believe he is fitting his first one this week. I am not sure what process he uses for transferring fuel. It sits where the muffler currently is between the tow bar and the existing fuel tank.

Since I am going to do an exhaust upgrade soon I would like to know where you put the muffler and what muffler you used please Tim. Did you keep the resonator as well and how did it turn out for noise in the cabin?

I will get in contact with the firm who started mine next week. There is sweet FA left to be done on the tank...but every time i call to book it in, they never call me back

Zook is going in some time next month to get the tank done

An update on the ODA tank. I called Tim last week and he does not have it ready yet but his price is now $1,800 so it is off my agenda. Back to two Jerry cans at that price.
