Hey all. I'm considering getting rid of Fatman and getting a new Vitara, nothing concrete yet, but just a tentative question: If I was to get a new 'Tara, which would be better overall? A LWB V6, or a SWB 2.0L? Can you put the suspension from a SWB 1.6 into either model? I know you can't fit 15 inch rims, which is a shame, but what is the largest size tyre you can fit in either without having to change gearing? Oh, also, do things like rear/bull bars designed for a SWB 1.6 fit on a SWB 2.0? Hey guys, a few more questions: If I was to cannibalize Fatman, do you know if the Coils and Struts/Shocks from a SWB will fit into a V6 LWB? Does anybody know what diffs either have? Can you fit the 5.12 diffs from a 1.6 into a LWB without any hassle? |

FYI they're both 2.0l. The 4 cyl is a SV420 & the V6 is a SV620. I squeezed 15's on mine. Its personal choice on the LWB or SWB, most of the suspension is change over, diff drops brackets are SV specific. Lockers, 5.12's, 31's, steel diff & the altered ego 4.5" lift.... would be my next build. |

Yeah, I knew that they were both 2, I was typing on a phone though, and the model numbers are too tedious to type over and over |

You can fit 245/75/16 tyres on both but you will need to do some chopping of the plastic trims so they dont scrub. Some 15 inch rims will fit on the new shape but not on the old shape without grinding away at the brake caliper. In the old model: Diff locks are just modified sierra lockrights or Vitara airleakers. Snorkels and diff brackets etc is easy to get but are almost half the price from O/S. New model: Suspension lifts and accessories are becomming available. Bull bars and Winch bars are out there but are stupidly expensive. Ive got both models at home in LwB and the older one is way more capable off road. |

How hard are the v6 2.0l motors to find and would they fit to a sierra useing the 1.6 adaptor kit or would the 2.0l 4 cyl fit with the adaptor kit? |

V6 is Ok to find. No the V6 will not bolt to a 1.6 adaptor kit. No the 4cyl will not bolt to a 1.6 adaptor kit. No its not legal unless you have a good engineer and deep pockets for all the supporting mods. The H20a and J20a both require the use of their own gearbox's. You MAY be able to fit a 1.6 vitara box, but i'm not sure what issues you would have with mounting patterns and clutches, as both the h20 and j20 motor use a clutch slave cyl and master cyl. |
