Good Evening AZ Vitara Crew. helloo Welcome to Bright Eyes Vitara High Performance Headlight loom install 101 Here is how I went about installing one of Royce's headlight looms to my Vitara, now the SV420's run the battery on the LHS so early vits will be the same but different. Tools & Parts Required: Bright Eyes Vitara High Performance Headlight loom Cable Ties medium & small 10mm socket + 1/4 drive ratchet & 3" extension Knife/Side cutters Flat blade screw driver/Broken hacksaw blade Sand paper Time taken with pics: 20mins, need to take some more to fill in the gaps.... FYI the write up took about 3/4 of an hour. Loom
Relays & Fuses
RHS headlight, use the 10mm remove the lower part of the airbox for easy access
LHS headlight, move the coolant overflow bottle & remove the washer bottle with the 10mm
lay the loom out & plan your path, I followed the existing loom that runs along the LHS inner guard, across to the LHS headlight & then out along side the radiator support bracket & in front of the a/c condenser following the loom for the a/c fan & out the other side to the RHS headlight. Cable tied where necessary. Crossing over to the RHS
RHS plug & loom
The Bright Eye's looms, have the right length & size earth terminal to pick up one of the headlight mounting bolts. Now supplying mad power to the lights is only 1/2 of the equation, a good clean Earth is just as important. With your 10mm undo the nut & using either a sharp flat blade screw driver or a broken hacksaw blade scratch & sand until you have cleaned the paint off the bodywork revealing bare metal. This is the headlight mounting bolt, they are the same both sides.
Remove the paint, I ended up cleaning it up a bit more after these pics. (the camera flash is great for pick up the spots you miss)
Clean up the back of the nut, the concrete driveway does a great job.
I missed a couple of pics here, the Headlight upgrade earth lead needs to be fitted on the headlight mounting bolt & the nut refitted & done up. Unplug the original headlight plugs from the back of both headlights, I taped up the RHS one to stop water getting in there, RHS is done.
LHS, unpluging the original headlight plug.
Plug the male plug from the Upgrade Headlight loom, into the female suzuki plug, hehe (insert some dirty comment here about plugging something)
Then plug the female socket from the Upgrade Headlight loom into the back of the headlight.
Now all what is left to do is route the the rest of the loom back to the battery & mount the relays, I have a few cables already running along the edge of the inner guard around to the back of the battery so I've followed the other loom that runs around the strut tower & along the lower inner guard.
I'm yet to mount the relays as I've got to do some new bracketometry for the extra relays. Final thing is to attach the power cable to the positive battery terminal & enjoy the warm glow of actually supplying raw power to your headlights. Moar pics to come. |

Nice work dude. Now for the million dollar question, have you tried them out yet or are you waiting till you've got the relays mounted? If so, is there a big difference? |

yeah, went for a burn & test at tea time & the difference is quite visible with just one side plugged in, it's a fair bit brighter & i've got some fancy phillips globes still to go. at the moment low beam cranks almost as good as high beam was & high beam isn't that far off the 170 lightforce with the blue covers (the blue rapes the light output like it's going out of style) |
