you wont need to modify the tunell, i have a sierra 5 speed and 1.3 in it, just move the eng mounts the same as you would for a 1.3 conversion and plug and play.

What gearbox are you going to use? 1.3 or 1.6?

EDIT: If its an 83 you will most likely have the narrow tunnel which will require widening for either the 1.3 or 1.6 box. I think that you can just squeeze the 1.3 box in if you have a body lift :?

just a 1.3 5spd, ill prob only be running a 35mm body lift so i may need to do some massaging, how hard is it to replace the steel dash with a later model dash?

They are completely different. Wiring, heater box, vents etc is also very different.

Not sure 35mm will be enough :? But if you can afford to have the vehicle off the road for a few weeks then that should give you time to sort those issues out.

Don't forget you will need a completely new exhaust system too.

You're confusing the issue by calling it a Stockman. A Stockman is either a late LJ80 or LJ81, or it is a Maruti LWB. By saying you have a 1lt Stockman, you are saying it's a Maruti, which won't need tunnel widening.

If it is actually an '83 metal dash, then it is a Sierra (a Type 2 SJ40, to be precise), and WILL need tunnel widening AND a new jackshaft yoke to fit the 5 speed.

A sierra ute? :?

Its just a cab chassis sierra. Stockman is just a badge mate. It doesn't add any prestige or value.
