just wondering im having troubles fitting a 1510 lock rite to the front centre of a w/t sierra iv been told i need a 4 pin hemisphere like out of a n/t diff is this necessary or can i fit it to the original centre??

You can, but wont be as strong. and you will need chromo 26 spline axles.

The 1510 reuses the factory side gears so you dont 'need' cromo axles. You also dont need a 4 pin centre, mine worked fine for the couple years it was in in a 2 pin centre.

ok thanks guys just as long as it gets setup right. because iv had it been setup about 3 times and it still not working

apparently late model 2 pin diffs, after 94 or so have a lip on the side gears that needs to
be machined off. i have a 1510 in a 2 pin diff and it went together fine. been there for
4 or so years.

the first time it sheared all the little pins and springs the second time im not sure what it did but its just wasnt locking at all.

sounds like its loose..
Did you put the washers in behind the locker gears?

i think they did i didnt do it myself. so it should lock even in a 2 pin centre.?? or should i track down a 4 pin centre

Yeah the internals of it resemble a vitara diff but smaller.
The lip sits out the same level as the teeth on the gear.
its a 89 sj70.
