Post subject:  Ironman 40mm Lift for SWB Vitara sv420
Anyone have any issue with Ironman suspension?
Thinking of lifting my vitara (only 35mm) so I can get some slightly bigger wheels under the arches. Ironman 40mm lift seems cheap and easy.

Come for a ride in mine if you want to know, Its a tad stiff, handles 100000000 times better on road than the 20 year old stuff that was in it. Flexes well of road for what it is.
It ends up more than 35mm too, closer to 45mm

Thanks Mate, very helpful. I have no issues with a stiff ride on the road and would be very happy if I ended up getting more than 40mm lift. If I ever get some time off work ill "pm" you and take you up on that offer.

Have also found a similar package from a "ridepro" suspension (rox shocks), never heard of them... Any ideas? about $100 bucks more than the Ironman kit.

It is firmer, i like it that way, feels more responsive, but its not uncomfortable... and yes it feels and handles 1000 times better than stock, both on and offroad... i have had my 35mm lift in for 10months now, and i have given it shite, even got air some times, i got 55mm in the rear empty, 40mm with toolbox and recovery gear... i am Very happy with Ironman ! :D

Yup I came across his Rox shocks pics today, cheers.
Ive decided to go with Ironman, I'm young and don't mind a firm ride at all. Plus I can get it installed for not much more that the cost of a wheel alignment and it includes a wheel alignment :D .

Ridepro: $1132
Ironman: $880

Im going the cheapest option so I can afford my steelies and coopers tyres.

Will have the 35mm of lift soon once the kit arrives.
I'm getting so confused trying to work out what size wheels to go for now, thinking about 235x75/16 on 16x7 Sunraysia rims. Problem is I'm not sure how much they would scrub with only a 35mm iron-man lift and I have no idea about offset..
Any one please feel free to help noob out? :lol:
Thing keeping in mind that I will definitely do a body lift down the track so I don't want to buy small wheels.

They'll scrub heaps. I have 40mm Kings/koni lift with 225/75 16's and I get heavy scrubbing at the top of the rear wheel arch, and only JUST miss the firewall at the front. Thats on XL7 16x7's.

Make sure you get the right 15's, cos most won't clear the brakes.

Thanks again, I have read about that issue. I will shave the calipers if I have to. Heading in to my mates garage to work out the best way to go

Finally got the suspension in and I'm fairly happy with iron man. The ride is much better than stock on road, yet to test off road.

I know everyone, Atari, is expecting me to reply to this, so here it is, haha... :lol:

It will feel a bit stiff for a few weeks, but then it settles down to firm, but not uncomfortable... any suspension upgrade is better than stock, handles so much better... i am sure you wont be disappointed with how it goes offroad... i know i wasnt, i know alot think Ironman is Shite gear... had mine in for 11months now, and i have given the suspension on my GV shite, even getting air, no breakages, still going strong... :wink: :lol:

I really have no issues with it being stiff, think my stock stuff must have been ruined. There were a few unfortunate noises with flex at the start of the day but they have all gone after a fair few climbs and about 200km.

Definitely happy with the feel of my car with new suspension, tested it today on sand, mud and rocks :D

Good to know your Ironman gear is still holding up after 11 months mate.

Cool... yeah my stock stuff was completely shagged in the rear... yep i had those " unfortunate " noises as well for a little while, i think it was just settling/bedding in, soon stopped after a bit of 4wheelin, haha... hopefully it will last alot longer than 11months... at least until mid next year, then if it happens to fail on me, then i will go a bigger lift next time, maybe Tough Dog or EFS... but its held up well so far... :wink:

G'day Fatzook.
Can you tell me the backspacing on the XL7 rims? I'm looking at the deep dish steel rims from a GV for my SV420, they have about 120mm from the mounting flange to the outside of the inner rim, if that makes sense.....

Not sure who you are asking... but mine didnt come with camber bolts... and no it didnt come with diff brackets, dont need them with a 35 to 40mm lift... :D

Not sure mate, but the kit only come with springs/shocks. I was a slacker and spent the $300 to get it installed with an alingnment. They said 40mm is the max you would want to go before other mods are required.... That being said Im trying out some coil spaces as well at the moment, so far every thing seems ok.
