Been doing a little reading on the subject of engine upgrade to a jimny. While the m18 is the obvious choice for best bang for buck upgrade, some reports are that its just not that great and they tend to break. Perhaps there is just too much power for the quality of the components used. The m16 is said to have strong components and not fail like the m18. So, Is it possible to make a hybrid between the 2. Is it as simple as stripping the good, strong bits from a m16 and swapping them into the m18? I realise that with different capacity comes different part requirements, but perhaps there is enough stronger components that can be used to make the difference? On another line, can an m13 be upgraded with parts from an m16 and m18 without complications and will the m13 ECU be suitable for the extra capacity?

the trick would be using the m13 head on the m16 bottom end with the m16 injectors - providing they bolt up and the flow on the head is the same. My sierra runs a g13bb head and g16b bottom end with g16b injectors and g13bb computer. |

Ok, so has anyone done this or know how it would be done, and if it works? I'd like to hear from people who have the tech details. Have I missed any engines in this range. Also, are there any transmissions from other VVT cars that mate to these engines that would work for the Jimny and offer different ratios. |

Nope. The jimny box is the only M-series RWD format box in production. |

I want to get my hands on the M15A used in the Suzuki Ignis(HT81S) has a higher compression ratio of 11.0:1, and has 83kW at 6400rpm and 143Nm at 4100rpm. must be built with stonger components, trying to find out more about it. |

How much difference does having an aftermarket ECU make to the perfomance of an unmodified engine? What differences are there externally between an m13a and and an 15 or 16? What needs to be modified or changed for a clean swap? According to wiki... The M13AA is an automotive engine manufactured by Suzuki Motor Corporation. The M13AA is a 1,328 cc inline 4 cylinder 16 valve VVT engine used in the Suzuki Jimny from 2005. So, does the A mean its more advanced or different to the others without the extra A? |

According to Wikipedia - Suzuki M engine you are WRONG!!!!!!!!!!
Oh sorrry, got a little carried away there
Yeah, I'm a little confused by the numbering to. Perhaps the first M13A was floored and they had to make a significant change and that warranted another A? |
