I've got a 85 n/t Sierra 1.6efi , a lift is next so am looking at a calmini 3.5 reverse shackle lift runing 235/75/15s. What do people think of the calmini product???

haha 4wd USA....bunch of idiots. I've never actually read any positive reviews about the calmini reverse shackle kit. I would save your money and look at either doing a basic spring lift with some OME/EFS/king springs. Or if your after a bit more flex in the front end you could do a ruf (rear's up front).
Have a search on the forum for 'RUF', that should answer all your questions about spring lifts and different setups.

A guy in here in Perth is running that kit....it's shit from what i have seen, when it's in action. A stock sierra has more flex than that kit  even with some leafs dropped it's still crap, from what he was telling me.

one leaf removed from the front passenger side. the rest are stock.

The Calmini shackle reversal is good for a road driven rig that wants to look tough, but they really are not a good offroad suspensions withouts ome serious modifications.
You find the kits for sale here on the forums in the $150 range, used. So that is what they go for once they are removed, because there is no market for them.
Some soft OME, or bonz eye leafs with a Bilstein shocks will do ya better.

Thanks guys. So a definitive no on the calmini kit. I car is a daily drive but it's main purpose remains 4B. The hubs are locked most weekends, my locker in the rear helps but my suspension is rooted ATM and I was after more clearance and little more flex. After more than 2" more like 3" so I'll look into ome gear coz that looks like the go but still open for ideas

i still manage to get my self hung up on the chassis rails but im a nutter  all i would need to do is make a flat belly to fix this 2 inch lift is plenty of clearance.. lifting and lifting is bad you will only find bigger things to get caught up by flat belly + foot = win

Yes good point, I know 2" is all I need for the tyres am runing and i dont wanna go too high but everyone is saying it'll sag so I dont want to end up with a 1" lift that was ment to be 2" I dont wanna do things twice

Dan your right haha iv learnt that 2 inch body 2 inch springs and 2 inch shackles + twin locks etc etc and my crazy driving can only end up in trob hence why im building it into buggy now if i was to do it again id keep it on 31s 2 inch lift and flat belly with RUF

I've never bellied out.. i drive so the zook stays as level as possible at all times. I'd say a habit from learning in an IFS truck.
The only thing stopping me from getting up a couple of things is gearing and a front locker.

trust me if your trying to crawl over big logs eg cut down trees in a logging area you wll belly out on some of them haha

so very true.
on any rough road it feels very good and stable,
mine flexes very well, but you have to do to much work for it not to scub.
also an ruf will flex and feel better, every day of the week.

I think a RUF would be the go for you. The approach angle rocks, they ride nice, and you already have them half the suspension is done cheap.

This guys suspensions would be the go for a low center of gravity rig.
Sometimes I wish I would have done mine different. I would not have to do all these other supporting mods to keep it together and stop it from taking naps.
Yes 33's and YJ's spring over is nice and goes alot of places, but side hills sure give a guy the ass pucker armsup
