Post subject:  Vitara PS pump - bearing replacement

Has anyone ever changed the bearing in their Vitara Power steering pump?
I am having trouble finding a part listing.

If someone that has a Vitara with Powersteering could send me their chassis number I could then check for a genuine Suzuki replacement.

Or, if you have replaced it, where did you get it from.

Thanks

Interested myself, looking to get a seal or bearing(or both) kit for a 1991 Vitara PS box,,i was given a link to a US one in another thread but would prefer to get one locally, there is one Ebay for $160 but that seems a bit pricey.http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... K:MEWAX:IT

Jonno_racing helped me out with the VIN/Chassis number, and Want33's helped me out as well with a screenshot of the suzuki parts listing,

However.... I was told by the parts guy that you can't purchase the bearing new.

So I will have to pull it off and get one sized up from a bearing supplier.

Thanks for those who helped.

I pulled the pump out to have a looksee.

It looks like a very difficult bearing to get out, and from spinning it freely, the bearing seams quite fine, no noise, grip or slop.

Any ideas on how to get it out.

I just went and bought another smaller fan belt, so just incase the pump seizes while I am away next week, I can always get home by removing the old belt and putting on the smaller one, I will just have no power steering.

Power steering pumps are often difficult to dissassemble.
Chances are you would need to press it apart.
