what heavy duty rear spring for a sierra would you recommend for alot of weight up front. has to hold up arb bar, winch, engine and dual batteries. i have ome springs atm running 4 leafs and there to soft and bend to easy. was driving up my driveway just before, and my shackle inverted and bent the spring even more efs are out, my mounts are not long enough. much appreciated |

got some old springs and a press? Just press an extra leaf up to get the same arch in it and add it to your OME pack to make em stiffer |

this is my awsome lean

You know ive been saying for a long long time that rear springs are a LOT softer than fronts and wont hold the weight without being stiffened for a long time, but nobody listens to me cause its not cool internet bandwagon EFS fuck yeah bullshit |

x2 longer spring means softer spring. |

yes i know rears are softer then fronts. i thought they would hold up better then this. ive driven about 500 metres max on them. only driven it to flex it to test for shocky lengths and a few other things. i bent them even bofore my bar and winch went onto the car. |

And that's why we use OME HD rears, which have a full length secondary spring - that means there's two leaves right where yours are bending. Stock fronts are 220lb/", Stock rears are 150lb/" Thing is Zooky 08, I think the problem is the passenger's side is too high, not that the driver's is too low. Steve |

Steve go for a drive today and i bend them even more just by going up my driveway. not sure what you mean about being to high. car was dead straight when i put the prings in, no lean at all. there is 20mm difference in bumper stop heights should you be able to push the car down on the front and make the shackle invert, because thats what i can do on the drivers side only |

If you're inverting shackles on compression, you need bumpstop spacing, longer shackles, longer springs, a longer chassis extension, or some combination of all four. Steve. |

It's not a mystery Zooky08 - It's one of the four things I've posted. My guess is get the passenger's side hard on the bumpstop and it will invert the shackle. No, your still misunderstanding me. I don't care what it's "meant" to be, I think the passenger side is too tall. Steve. |

passenger side can touch the bumperstop without inverting, but since the drivers spring is bent and sagged it makes the spring longer and a shitty shackle angle, there for the drivers side is the only shackle i can get to invert. ill do some research, might do custom springs or try the ome hd springs out. |

I wouldn't do custom springs for such a small issue. Springs have a short life IMHO so it's pointless spending big on them. Steve. |

Steve. But I most likely go buy the hd one |

Fair enough. Maybe try cutting the eyes off a stock rear main leaf and using it as a full length secondary. Steve. |

ill do some research, might do custom springs or try the ome hd springs out. Drivers side of these vehicles have more weight and thus can compress the bumpstop more than the passengers side. Either that or you have your spring spacings out by a few mm, yes only a few can be the root cause of inversion. As G-banger said, you need the full secondary leaf to support the main especially in the front. In respect to flat level ground, the stock front bumstop is higher than the rear and therefore inverts the spring slightly more than the rear. If it ain't supported she will bend! |

Be glad yours only bent. I had one snap when out wheeling. After this i got a full length 2nd leaf with the military wrap and never had a problem. They were nice and flexi too. To combat the lean find a 3rd leaf that is thicker than the rest and rin it in the drivers side...... You dont need the extra leaf just one that is slightly thicker to hold the extra weight. |

Not sure what I'm gonna do yet. It's not the sagging of the spring, it's bent is what make my shackle invert. Car really pissing me off lately. my reco engine just went bang yesterday, so holding this project of for a while and stop spending money on it. Going out to buy another car

![]() If it's bent, the overall length of the spring will actually become shorter and not collapse the shackle. When a spring is also torsionally twisted it also becomes shorter ie if you tested your spacing setup with the diff flexed it may not have inverted but this is the best case scenario in respect to spring length/ spring spacing and the shackle collapsing. |

Someone made their chassis extension too short. I see longer shackles in your future Steve. |

I thought we concluded it wasn't called inversion when they collapse upwards http://www.auszookers.com/index.php?nam ... hlight=cj7 Anyway. My lame RUF on my Sierra did something funny to me the other day. I bent the shackle sideways on the drivers side. So now the shackle is effectively shorter, and the blasted thing can now "unload" when the front compresses very hard |

So now the shackle is effectively shorter, and the blasted thing can now "unload" when the front compresses very hard Yea I tried to get the majority of the peps to use the terms collapsing or unloading shackle but for some reason it didn't stick If you read that thread there were a few measurements in it and what worked and what didn't. Stock sierra rear spacings seem to be between 980/985mm. You want to be on the safe side of that, so 990 ish. Do you have any standard rear mains? If so swap them with your bent OME's and keep your spring spacings as they are and it shouldn't collapse again as standards are fractionally shorter than OME's |

Yea I got a set of rears. I'll do that and see how it goes |
