Hi guys I blew my t case finally after months of it wining like a banshee
Was just wondering what's the best option

I rang a wreckers and he has one for 440 with a three month warranty on it
Or is it better to buy new gears for it and get someone to split the case and fit it what's more cost affective

Pull your case and rebuild it yourself with some reduction gears. It should only take you about a day to pull it apart and rebuild it, $440 from the wrecker is way too expensive, unless it already has reduction gears

A new gearset is new gears (which gears exactly will depend on the ratio you get) - you will need new bearings if the old case was whining enough to 'go bang'.

$440 is an ok price for a case with 3 month warranty.

Dosent reduction gears make it slower ? Cos I was happy with it the way it was ?

So what actually went bang, gears bearings or case?
If it's just the bearing and the gears are okay then just buy a rebuild kit

Standard gearing is fine if you will only ever run standard size tyres, and don't want to do any hard or steep offroad driving. Reduction gears will allow you to run taller tyres and crawl tough sections rather than just charging through it where you run a greater risk of breaking something

Well I was pulling out of the servo in first then it made a bang and now wen I try to take off it's got a horrible grinding sound and I have no drive but it still works in revers ?

Put your transfer in neutral, go through the gears, just to rule out the gearbox

So if it dosent make a noise wen the t case is in neutral it's deff the t case and if it dose it's the gear box ?

if it makes no noise at all in reverse then i highly doubt its the transfer

Yeah $440 is steep but then again $30 is not indicative of the price that they usually sell for either, that's both ends of the scale.

I put the transfer case in newtrel and went throo the gears it didn't make the grind but if I put it back in 4x4 or just 2wd it makes it so that's deff t case ?
